"World Series of Blackjack 2007" Game 6

This game's big star is Penn Jillette. He's facing Ken Smith, Helen Ho, T.J. Boros and Marlin Horseman.

Jilette is off to a lackluster start, and with $86,000, he bets the $50,000 max on the fourth hand. His opening hand:

(2H)(4H)

The dealer's base card is a 7 of Diamonds. After a hit, he is up to 14. After another hit....he busts with a Queen of Spades. The dealer had a 20. He then does OK from there, winning the next two hands, with a Blackjack on the latter hand.

Entering the first KO Hand, here are the scores:

Ken: $135,000
Marlin: $128,500
T.J.: $124,000
Penn: $100,000
Helen: $51,000

Bets:

Ken: $3,000
Marlin: $8,000
T.J.: $1,000
Penn: $15,000
Helen: $50,000

Opening hands:

Ken: (2S)(7D)
Marlin: (5C)(QH)
T.J.: (4C)(9S)
Penn: (2C)(10C)
Helen: (4S)(KD)

Dealer's opening card...10 of Diamonds. Horseman surrenders and goes to $124,500. Boros busts. The leader gets an Ace of Spades and freezes at 20. Jilette hits and gets a 9 of Hearts to go to 21! That means that the only lady on the panel (Ho) is mathematically eliminated and sent home with $1,000. She won her hand after the dealer busted.

At the 14th hand, Jilette is on a roll, having won six straight hands. Bets:

Marlin: $24,000
T.J.: $20,000
Ken: $6,000
Penn: $19,000

Starter hands:

Marlin: (9C)(KS)
T.J.: (AH)(10S) = BLACKJACK!
Ken: (8C)(10D)
Penn: (6C)(KD)

Dealer's opening card is a 7 of Hearts. Everyone freezes their hands. Dealer's hand....

(7H)(7H)(8D) = BUSTED!

...the dealer's been busting out a lot as of late. In fact, that's the sixth straight dealer bust! Boros leads with $196,000, Smith has $164,000, Jilette has $158,000 and Horseman has $150,500. Next bets:

Marlin: $12,000
T.J.: $30,000
Ken: $14,000
Penn: $3,000

Hands:

Marlin: (3C)(JS)
T.J.: (3D)(5H)
Ken: (2C)(10H)
Penn: (7S)(JD)

Dealer's base card is a 7 of Diamonds. Horseman hits and gets a 6 of Clubs to stop at 19. Boros doubles down. Smith hits...and busts by one with a King. After Jilette freezes his 17, here's the dealer's hand:

(7D)(KC) = 17

Boros's final card....10 of Hearts, meaning everyone but Smith wins, and Boros has a bigger lead with $256,000! Horseman is back to second with $162,500, Jillette has $158,000 and Smith has 150 large. The dealer bust streak is over. On the next hand, Horseman tries to really close the gap with a $42,000 wager. His opening hand:

(6S)(QS)

The dealer's opening card is a 6 of Diamonds, and he stands. Final dealer hand:

(6D)(6S)(9C) = 21

Ouch. He's barely in third place now with $120,500, while Smith has $120,000. On the next hand, Horseman bets the $50,000 max. A KO card comes up, meaning the next hand is the KO Hand. After that, his opening hand:

(5S)(6D)

He does the obvious double down. The dealer's opening card is an 8 of Spades. Final dealer hand:

(8S)(QC) = 18

Boros leads with $247,000, despite busting on this hand. If Hoseman's final card is anywhere between an eight to a face card, he'll have $220,500 and be just $26,500 behind the leader....

...and he gets a 9 of Hearts! Jillette has $145,000 after this hand and Smith has $94,000. Bets on the KO Hand:

Marlin: $20,000
T.J.: $3,000
Ken: $47,000
Penn: $50,000

Base hands:

Marlin: (4D)(4H)
T.J.: (3H)(4S)
Ken: (5S)(6D)
Penn: (AH)(10S) = BLACKJACK!!!

Dealer's base card....10 of Diamonds. Smith is mathematically eliminated at this point because of Jillette's Blackjack, meaning he leaves with $2,000. Horseman gets a King of Hearts and stops at 18. Boros gets a 7 of Clubs, and after another hit gets a 5 of Spades and stops at 19. Final dealer hand:

(10D)(QS) = 20

Incidentally, Smith surrendered on this hand after he knew he was eliminated. After this hand, Boros leads with $244,000, Jillette now is in second with $220,000 and Horseman is now third with $200,500. First of the final five hands begins with these bets:

Marlin: $45,000
T.J.: $20,000
Penn: $35,000

Hands:

Marlin: (9H)(10C)
T.J.: (8H)(JD)
Penn: (6D)(KD)

Dealer's base card: 7 of Hearts. Everyone stands, and here's the dealer's final hand:

(7H)(7C)(6H) = 20

Everyone loses the hand, meaning Boros now has $224,000, Jillette has $185,000 and Horseman has $155,500. Next bets:

Marlin: $50,000
T.J.: $5,000
Penn: $10,000

Hands:

Marlin: (JC)(KH)
T.J.: (3D)(3H)
Penn: (6S)(QD)

Dealer's base card...9 of Diamonds. Horseman stays put. Boros splits his threes, and here are his split hands:

(3D)(5H)(AD) = 19
(3H)(8H)...DOUBLE DOWN

Jillette stands, and here's the dealer's final hand:

(9D)(QS) = 19

That sends Jillette to the back of the pack. As for Boros's final card...King of Clubs, meaning he pushes on one hand and wins on another, meaning he's now at $234,000. Horseman is now at $205,500 and Jilette is now at $175,000. Boros bets $5,000 while the others bet ten times as much. Opening hands:

Marlin: (2D)(QC)
T.J.: (7C)(8S)
Penn: (2C)(3D)

Dealer's base....5 of Diamonds. Jillette hits...and gets a 7 of Diamonds to go to 12. After he hits again...he gets a 5 of Hearts and stands at 17. Horseman doubles down again and uses his Power Chip. He doesn't look happy, but he keeps the card. Boros stands. Final dealer hand:

(5D)(10C)(QH) = BUSTED!

Horseman's final card, for the lead....a 3 of Clubs, so since he didn't bust, he's now in the lead with $305,500! Boros has $239,000 and Jillette has $225,000. On the next-to-last hand, Horseman bets $25,000 while the others bet twice that amount. Hands:

Marlin: (8S)(9C)
T.J.: (AS)(4H)
Penn: (7C)(JC)

Dealer's base card: 6 of Diamonds. Horseman and Jillette stand, while Boros doubles down. Final dealer hand:

(6D)(9S)(8S) = WIPEOUT!

At the final hand, Boros has the lead back with $339,000. Horseman has $330,500 and Jillette has $275,000. This is still anybody's game, folks! Horseman and Jillette bet 50 grand, while Boros bets $5,000. Hands:

Marlin: (3H)(5D)
T.J.: (3C)(7H)
Penn: (2D)(5H)

Dealer's base card...Jack of Diamonds. Boros doubles down and uses his Power Chip after not using it in the previous hand on a double down situation. Jillette also does the same thing. Everybody doubles down, and here's the final dealer hand:

(JD)(QS) = 20

That means that Boros wins the match, $25,000 and a spot in the semifinals. Horseman goes to the Wild Card Game. Jillette gave it his all, but he'll have to settle for $3,000.
