### "Duel"- Episode 4

When we last left, the jackpot was at \$785,000, in the first part of the duel in progress that I didn't cover, because the episode was about to run out of time. The current duel pits Tammy against Robert (a telemarketer). This duel is a must-win for Tammy. Since she has no money, if she loses this duel, she goes home with nothing. Right now, both players have seven chips. Here's the next question:

What animal is at the center of the Ferrari logo?

A: Bull
B: Lion
C: Horse
D: Cheetah

Robert only has one Pressure Button left. Speaking of the Pressure Button, Tammy uses it for the first time tonight. Both say horse, like I thought...and that's right. No harm, no foul. Next question:

Whose brain was cut up into at least 200 little pieces, so it could be studied after he died?

A: Pablo Picasso
B: Albert Einstein
C: Kurt Cobain
D: Jeffrey Dahmer

The lady locks in Einstein and Dahmer while the man also locks in Picasso. If Picasso is right, Tammy's gone for good. If Cobain is right, we go to a Shootout. Otherwise, gameplay goes on as normal. Answer....

A: Pablo Picasso
B: Albert Einstein
C: Kurt Cobain
D: Jeffrey Dahmer

...Einstein. Tammy now leads 6-5, and the jackpot has now hit the 800 grand mark. Next:

An earthquake that hits 4 on the Richter scale is how many times stronger than a 3?

A: 2
B: 5
C: 10
D: 100

Both players cover up everything, so the jackpot heads to \$830,000. Answer was 10. Next, with Tammy now leading 3-2:

Which of these is NOT one of the states that meet at the Four Corners Monument?

A: Utah
B: Arizona

Tammy uses her Pressure Button for the other time this duel. In the end, both say Colorado, while Robert also says Nevada and Tammy also says Utah. Therefore, if the answer is Utah, Robert goes home with nothing. If Nevada is the answer, Tammy's the one going home with nothing. If it's Arizona, we go to a Shootout. And if it's Colorado, we keep playing. Answer.....

A: Utah
B: Arizona

...Nevada, so Tammy is out of here and Robert wins his first duel and \$5,000. Like Tammy, he must win his next duel to stay alive in the tournament. The jackpot is now worth \$845,000.

The next three chosen people are Stephen, Pat, and Ashlee. He challenges Stephen. First question:

Which state's capital is on the coast?

A: Virginia
B: Massachusetts
C: Oregon
D: Maine

After immediately covering up all the choices, Stephen uses the Pressure Button. Both players wound up covering all the choices, so the jackpot now climbs to \$875,000. The answer was Massachusetts. Second question:

When bowling, how many strikes do you need to score a perfect 300 game?

A: 9
B: 10
C: 12
D: 15

The answer is 12. Both say that, but Robert also covered up 10 and 15, so the jackpot is now \$885,000 and he's behind, 7-5. Third question:

What music group once turned down a reported billion dollar offer to reunite?

A: The Beatles
B: Led Zeppelin
C: ABBA
D: Pink Floyd

Stephen uses his other Pressure Button. Both players cover up all the choices, making the jackpot \$915,000. Answer: ABBA. Stephen still leads 4-2 as we go to this next question:

Which of these conducts sound the fastest?

B: Air
C: Water
D: Granite

After covering up lead and water, Robert makes a possible big mistake by using the Pressure Button when Stephen's already covered up all the choices! The answer must be lead or water for Robert to stay alive....

B: Air
C: Water
D: Granite

...but it's granite, so he's leaving with \$5,000 while Stephen picks up \$5,000 of his own. Like the last two winners, he must win another duel to stay in the thick of things. The jackpot now stands at \$940,000.

The computer then chooses Ashlee, Laura from San Jose, CA (who is a stuntwoman and considers herself to be a charades master) and Fritz. Stephen picks Fritz. First question:

The mask worn by the killer in the movie "Halloween" was modeled from what actor's face?

A: Ronald Reagan
B: Burt Reynolds
C: William Shatner
D: John Travolta

Fritz quickly uses his Pressure Button for the first time after covering up Shatner. Stephen covers up all the choices. Answer....Shatner, so Fritz has a 10-7 lead. The jackpot goes to \$955,000. Second question:

What meat is in a Maharaja Mac sold at McDonald's in New Delhi?

A: Bacon
B: Chicken

C: Beef
D: Ham

Fritz uses his Pressure Button again. I think he made a mistake by using both Pressure Buttons during the first two questions. Stephen only covers up chicken, while Fritz also covers up bacon and ham. If bacon or ham is right, Stephen goes home and Fritz will win \$40,000. If it's beef, it's Shootout time. Otherwise, we continue as normal. Answer.....

A: Bacon
B: Chicken
C: Beef
D: Ham

...chicken. Fritz still leads, 8-7, and the jackpot goes to \$965,000. Next:

By number of passengers, what was the busiest airport on the planet in 2006?

A: Chicago's O'Hare
B: NY's JFK
C: Atlanta's Hartsfield
D: London's Heathrow

Both players cover up all the choices, so we're as close as we can possibly get to a million dollar bank, since it's now at \$995,000. The answer was Hartsfield, and Fritz still leads, 5-4. Next:

The number of O magazine covers without Oprah plus the number of Oprah's marriages equals either 0, 1, 2 or 3?

Stephen uses his Pressure Button for the first time this duel after covering up all the choices. Again, both cover up all the choices. The answer was zero, and when we add 30 grand, here's the new jackpot mark:

\$1,025,000

Next question:

What is the "Bikini" swimsuit named after?

A: Nuclear testing site
B: Tahitian singer
C: Italian volcano
D: Species of butterfly

Stephen uses his other Pressure Button. In the end, Fritz covers up A while Stephen chooses C. The answer is.....

A: Nuclear testing site
B: Tahitian singer
C: Italian volcano
D: Species of butterfly

...A, so Stephen also goes home with \$5,000. Fritz has his first \$10,000 and has to win his next duel to stay in the tourney. The jackpot now stands at \$1,030,000.

Waiting in the wings now are Ken, Kimberley and Ashlee. He challenges Ashlee. This duel begins with this first question:

According to Forbes Magazine, who is 2007's second-highest paid star after Oprah Winfrey?

A: Ellen DeGeneres
B: Judge Judy Sheindlin
C: Katie Couric
D: Teri Hatcher

The lady covers up all the choices while the umpire leaves Judge Judy uncovered. If it's her, he's leaving with \$10,000, while Ashlee will instantly win \$35,000....

...and it's Judge Judy!! Ashlee now has \$35,000! The jackpot now stands at \$1,060,000!

Pat, Laura and Kimberley are the last ones chosen tonight. Ashlee challenges Kimberley. Again, Ashlee must win her next duel to stay in the hunt. We have enough time to do this question:

What is the only U.S. state to border just one other state?

A: Florida
B: Rhode Island

C: Maine
D: Michigan

Kimberley covers up everything while Ashlee leaves Florida uncovered. If that's the answer, just like Ashlee, Kimberley will be \$35,000 richer just like that....

..but it's Maine, so we keep going. The jackpot goes to \$1,085,000 as we call a halt for the night.
