I regret to inform all of you that actor, producer and director Paul Newman passed away yesterday at the age of 83 after losing his long battle with cancer.

Newman was nominated for ten Oscars over the course of his career, with his only major Oscar win coming in 1987 for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the movie "The Color of Money" (he also won two honorary ones). He also won a Primetime Emmy in 2005 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for "Empire Falls" (he also won an SGA Award in 2006 for a similar category) and won six Golden Globes (including the Cecil B. DeMille Award) amongst his other 36 awards.

His career began in the theater genre as Newman made his first Broadway appearance in 1953 with "Picnic". After that, he was then offered an acting contract with Warner Bros. and the rest is history.

Newman is also known for his Newman's Own food products line.

Newman appeared on "I've Got a Secret" on October 3, 1956 and was the Mystery Guest on "What's My Line?" twice- on January 25, 1959 and November 8, 1959.

In addition to wife Joanne Woodward, he is survived by five children, older brother Arthur and his two grandsons.
