12/15/2008 Results

Before I start today's results recap, here's a special clip of Brianne Sherman's $250,000 win on "Millionaire".

TPIR: Episode 4551K begins with Annette, Andrew, Jennifer and Leslie. Drew comes out in a canoe pushed by Rachael and Stephanie and the first IUFB is a plasma HDTV (Tamiko).

Leslie: $900
Jennifer: $2,100
Andrew: $1,399
Annette: BUCK (STAGE GARF)

ARP: $1,899

Since this guy has the same name as my brother, Andrew Gelb, a musician from San Diego, will play Any Number for either a sofa (Rachael) or a 2009 Honda Civic EX Sedan (Std., AT, Tray, WLock)(Stephanie). First number in the car is 2.

(Note: Rich called the car a Ford at first by mistake.)

1. 3- Pricey Ziffel ($ 3 . _ _)
2. 4- Sofa ($ _ 4 _)
3. 5- Pricey Ziffel ($ 3 . _ 5)
4. 8- Sofa ($ 8 4 _)
5. 9- Wins sofa ($849)

The ARP of the Honda was $20,167 and the piggy bank had $3.25 in it today. The three show winning streak for Any Number is over.

(Note: The process of starting Pricing Game lineups with a car or cash game is being done on a semi-regular basis. Thus, that won't happen on every show.)

Another Andrew replaces him in Contestant's Row- Andrew Costigan, that is. The second IUFB is a BBQ (Rachael).

Andrew: $750
Annette: $800
Leslie: $745 (not that wise of a bid)
Jennifer: $959

ARP: $749

Because of Leslie Kirkham's lucky bid, this Tennessee native plays Most Expensive for golf clubs (Rachael), a floor clock (Tamiko) and boots (Stephanie). She goes with the obvious in choosing the clock...you bet she's a winner!

Golf clubs: $1,345
Boots: $1,670
Clock: $2,275

Here comes Matthew from the Navy and the third IUFB is a washer/dryer (Stephanie).

Matthew: $1,650
Jennifer: $1,700
Andrew: $700
Annette: $1,200

ARP: $2,248

Jennifer Hammond from Huntington Beach, CA plays Range Game for a Chalet folding trailer (Rachael). Range is $11,700-$12,300. She stops her guess at $11,861-$12,011. ARP: $11,880!

TODAY'S WIN AT HOME PRIZE: Diamond charm bracelet (Tamiko)

SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN #1:
Andrew ($2,748): 45 + 35 = $.80
Leslie ($6,039): Quarter + 95 = OVER
Jennifer ($14,128): 55 + 60 = OVER

The first Andrew today goes to the Showcase.

Coming on down next is James Helton and the fourth IUFB is a fireplace (Tamiko).

James: $1,500
Andrew: $1,650
Annette: $1,900
Matthew: $1,950

ARP: $1,999

Matthew Schubring, an avionics instructor in the Navy, plays Check Out for a Honda Accord LX-S Coupe (Std., AT, Sensors, Mats)(Rachael) worth $23,946! The products today are soup, daily pore cleanser, salsa, luggage lock & cold remedy.

(Note: Another script error for a Honda- it said an Accord Sedan was being offered instead.)

His guesses:

Soup: $.89
Cleanser: $3.59
Salsa: $2.50
Lock: $6.99

Remedy: $12.50
TOTAL GUESS: $26.47

Actual prices:

Soup: $1.29
Cleanser: $6.49
Salsa: $2.99
Lock: $8.49
Remedy: $11.99

ACTUAL TOTAL: $31.25
DIFFERENCE: $4.78

He did much better than the audience would have here.

Marc then comes on down and the fifth IUFB is a bass guitar (being played by Mike Tucci from ESP!).

Marc: $900
James: $1,200
Andrew: $1,220
Annette: $855

ARP: $1,665

The other Andrew plays Secret X for a bedroom worth $5,086. Here's how he places his free X:

(X)(??)(--)
(--)(??)(--)
(--)(??)(--)

Today's SPs modeled by Rachael:

Double burner: $82 or $103?
Stock tracker: $62 or $85?

He gets the double burner at $82 and the stock tracker at $85. Here's his final setup:

(X)(??)(X)
(--)(??)(--)
(--)(??)(X)

Andrew is...

(X)(--)(X)
(--)(X)(--)
(--)(--)(X)

...a winner!

The last name Rich gets to call on is Mary Jane Edwards and the final IUFB is a home theater system (Stephanie & Tamiko).

Mary Jane: $2,300
Annette: $2,500
Marc: BUCK
James: TWO BUCKS (bad news for Marc)

ARP: $3,190, so Annette doesn't get locked up in the First Four Breakfast Club!

This Valencia, CA native plays Bonkers for a trip to Ireland (Rachael). Board:

4 8 3 5

1. HLHH- EIGHT SECOND EXACTA!!!

ARP: $5,068!

SHOWCASE SHOWDOWN #2:
Matthew ($1,999): $.85
Andrew ($6,918): 55 + 35 = $.90
Annette ($8,258): 85 + 30 = OVER

Do you believe it- both Andrews are in the Showcase today!!

The first Showcase has makeup supplies, a small video camera and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle; all prizes are modeled by Stephanie. Not too good writing there, Drew.

ANDREW #2 PASSES TO ANDREW #1; ANDREW #1 BIDS $22,500 ON MOTORCYCLE SHOWCASE

MY BID FOR MOTORCYCLE SHOWCASE: $18,750

For Andrew Costigan, we have the things you need to become a super villain. First, type up all of the tricks you've got set up with a new laptop (Rachael). Second, find your own secret island after cruising to the Caribbean (Tamiko). Finally, you need something nice to cruise on back from the Caribbean- it's a new 20" Reinell ski boat (Rachael & Tamiko).

ANDREW #2 BIDS $24,250 ON TRIP/BOAT SHOWCASE

MY BID FOR TRIP/BOAT SHOWCASE: $28,000

ANDREW #2'S SHOWCASE:
BID: $24,250
ARP: $31,269
DIFFERENCE: $7,019

ANDREW #1'S SHOWCASE:
BID: $22,500
ARP: $18,824

OVER- ANDREW COSTIGAN WINS!

Mr. Costigan wins $38,187 in prizes today...and maybe some jealousy from my brother. I would've DSWed the motorcycle showcase.

After a trip to Hawaii sponsored by the movie "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" worth $5,441 is put on the wheel, the Round 1 category is Phrase. Susan calls a pair of T's to begin with a $1,000 DVDEmpire.com gift certificate. A little later, Jenni calls a $300 G for the Free Spin. She decides to use it after repeating the H while attempting to pick up the trip; two turns later, she calls a dud in R. After Susan buys the O's, we have...

_ A S E _/ON/THE/

_ E S T - S E L L I N G/

_ _ _ E _ - R _ A S T E _/_ _ T S/&/

_ _ _ T S

...she calls a $300 D, then buys the remainder of the vowels (O's and the U), but then spins Bankrupt to lose $1,150. Edgar gives a ZONK ANSWER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE with FISH LOVE. Jenni then solves WISH LIST to quadruple up to $4,000. Speed-Up Round category is Occupation and consonants are worth $1,450 apiece; still anybody's game. After Susan calls the R...

_ _ S _ _ _ N

_ _ S _ _ N _ R

...she solves FASHION DESIGNER...but for just $1,450, so she finishes in second with $10,050. Jenni leaves with $4,000 and Edgar hangs on with $12,800 in cash and trip despite his big bomb in the final Toss-Up.

Big Money Round: A real nice car at stake this week- it's a Cadillac CTS. Edgar spins the N in WIN and the category is Thing. Starting with:

_ _ _ _ _

_ _ T _

He calls C, D, M and I and gets...

C I _ I C

D _ T _

...he somehow does the CIVIC DUTY needed to win $30,000 (which happens to be $1,000 for each bonus round win we've had this season)! That's $42,800 in cash and trip for him! And just as the celebration was beginning, the puzzleboard changes to his stupid Toss-Up guess of FISH LOVE!! LOL! I believe that's an historic moment- the first time a stupid puzzle guess ends up appearing on the puzzleboard at the end of the show!
