"Big Brother X" 8/31

Before I start tonight's recap of "Big Brother 10", I would like to assess the situation on the remaining five houseguests.

IMO, Dan is the biggest male threat left this season (with Jerry a close second), while Keesha is the biggest remaining female threat. Renny and Memphis have a lot of work to do in the next week or so in order to establish themselves as contenders for this season's title. And I have no idea what's the thing about Jerry that allowed him to survive back-to-back eviction ceremonies.

HoH Competition: The four eligible players were asked questions by the previous Head of Household (Keesha) about when particular events in the season took place. After a question was posed, each player had to roll a ball into a numbered slot; they had to aim their shot towards the day number they thought was right. Whatever numbered slot each player landed in became their guess for that question. If a player's guess was correct, their score stayed at zero; otherwise, the difference between their guess and the actual answer would be added to their score. The player with the lowest score after seven questions became the new HoH.

1. What day did Jerry call Dan "Judist" at the veto meeting?

Dan: 39
Jerry: 28
Memphis: 41
Renny: 50

Actual day: 35, so the scores:

Dan: 4
Jerry: 7
Memphis: 6
Renny: 15

2. What day were there reports of aliens in the windows of the Big Brother House?

Dan: 18
Jerry: 7
Memphis: 23
Renny: 19

Correct day: 14. New scoreboard:

Dan: 8
Jerry: 14
Memphis: 15
Renny: 20

3. What day was Brian Hart blindsided at the veto meeting and put on the block?

Dan: 9
Jerry: 11
Memphis: 11
Renny: 2

The right day: 6. New scores:

Dan: 11
Jerry: 19
Memphis: 20
Renny: 24

4. On what day did past houseguests return with news from the outside world?

Dan: 27
Jerry: 29
Memphis: 40
Renny: 18

Answer: 32.

Dan: 16
Jerry: 22
Memphis: 28
Renny: 38

5. What day did a 5.4 earthquake hit the Big Brother House?

Dan: 26
Jerry: 22
Memphis: 20
Renny: 18

The right answer: 22, so Jerry scored a critical BULLSEYE!

Dan: 20
Jerry: 22
Memphis: 30
Renny: 42

6. On what day was Jessie evicted?

Dan: 20
Jerry: 28
Memphis: 28
Renny: 22

Actual day: 31. Scores heading into the last question:

Dan: 31
Jerry: 25
Memphis: 33
Renny: 51

Final question: What day did America help supply the Big Brother House with giant lollipops?

Since Dan and Jerry were the only two left in contention for this competition, let's reveal their final guesses:

Dan: 39
Jerry: 35

The right day needs to be very high in order for Dan to have a chance to pull out a comeback win. The actual answer is...

...Day #39, meaning despite Dan hitting the question on the nose, Jerry is now a two-time HoH by a final tally of 29-31!

He then decides to put up on the chopping block...

...the two most dangerous players I mentioned at the beginning of the recap- Dan and Keesha.

All this, plus the first sneek peek of "Hole in the Wall" at the end of the week, some episodes of "Catch 21" and more when the month of September begins!

"The Rich List" to be revived on GSN

Buzzerblog reports today that "The Rich List" will be revived on GSN as "The Money List" with a $50,000 top prize, and GSN Live's Fred Roggin will host. The show was taped on England's set, and this will be the first cable game show since "10 Seconds" (I think) to have returning champions!

"Project Runway" 8/27

Because the regular models were not used last week, TWO models were eliminated this week. By virtue of last week's winner Joe Faris deciding to keep Topacio this week as his model, Germaine and Elena were cut.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: Using car parts from a set of new Saturn VUE Hybrids (remember, this season's champion will win that car), each contestant had to make an outfit.

This week's guest judge is Rachael Zoe. Also, Nina Garcia was unable to appear on this episode, so Laura Bennett from Season 3 took her place this week.

As soon as the models were sent into the workroom for fitting, Kenley was given the bad news that her model Shannone had withdrawn from the competition, meaning Germaine would come back to take her place.

Jerell got off to a good start while Blayne and Stella had early troubles. Kenley's work was affected by Shannone's departure.

1. Jerell- Seat covers, carpets, resin moldings and metal dashboard trim

2. Keith- Seat covers, liners, cushion and cargo netting

3. Terri- Seat covers, carpets, cushions and cargo netting

4. Kenley- Air filters, seat covers, seat belts and window shades

5. Leanne- Seat covers, cushions and seat belts

6. Suede- Floor mats, sun visors, cargo netting and seat covers

7. Korto- Seat belts (She's taking a risk here by using only one car part)

8. Blayne- Seat belts and mirrors

9. Joe- Seat covers, cushions, seat belts and Saturn Sky logo

10. Stella- Seat belts, seat covers, seat backs, carpet stays and keys

Most of the remaining contestants chose seat cushions as one of their raw materials. This challenge was similar to the first one this season (the grocery store one) where most people used tablecloths, and a majority of the contestants were criticized in part for doing that. I'm not sure if the judges felt the same way when it came to this week's challenge with most using seat covers.

The first four to move on to the next episode in September:

Blayne
Jerell
Joe
Keith
Kenley
Korto
Leanne
Stella
Suede
Terri

Now, the winner this week and getting a free pass next week...

Blayne
Jerell
Keith
Korto
Leanne
Stella

...Leanne Marshall! She's improved ever since being in the bottom two in Week 2. As for this week's bottom two:

Blayne
Jerell
Keith
Korto
Stella

For both, this is their second trip to the bottom two, but this is Keith's second time in a row here. The next contestant to be eliminated on their second trip to the danger zone is...

Keith
Stella

...Keith Bryce.

Rant about "Catch 21"

About a month or so ago, while reading the Hollywood Junket report for "Catch 21", it was reported that only two players won the $25,000 top prize in the episodes that were shot for GSN. Well, by virtue of the $25K win Thursday, that part of the story is now incorrect, as we now have had three grand prize winners so far this season.

Additionally, since this show first started, we've had a $25K win occur every other week, including this week. We've still got about two weeks to go in the season.

"Catch 21" 8/29 (for Jason)

Well, today is the day! Jason Block, a GSNN “We Love to Interrupt” correspondent and former big “Jeopardy!” and “WWTBAM” winner from Brooklyn, is playing at the rightmost podium tonight. We learned that he once dressed up as a chicken! Challenging him are:

Max (originally from Iran!!)- GM of a retailer store (he also gave the longest interview so far on the show about his mom once buying a cow for him as a pet!)
Jessica Burne (originally from NY)- Personal trainer

C: “Scared Straight”

JESSICA: “Reefer Madness”- INCORRECT (that’s a film by Motion Picture Ventures)
JASON: “The Story of Menstruation”- RIGHT AGAIN (800)

Has Jason pulled off another 21 right now and forced Sudden Death between the scoreless players?...

JESSICA- FIRST CARD
CHOSEN CARD: 2 OF CLUBS; MAX WINS

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND BASE CARDS:

CARD: QUEEN OF CLUBS

HE WINS!!! Unbelievable performance thus far, Jason!

Super Catch 21: We had a $25,000 win the last time, but Jason definitely has the tools to make it happen for the second time in a row, as he has three Power Chips to work with. Good luck, man.

CARD #4: 4 OF CLUBS; PLACES IT IN HAND #1 (14)

CARD #5: JACK OF SPADES; PLACES IT IN HAND #3 (20)

CARD #6: JACK OF HEARTS; CHANGES IT

This next card must be an Ace, 2 or 7 to get on the board. Anything higher than a 7 and it’s all over…

CARD #7: QUEEN OF CLUBS- WIPEOUT!!!

NO!!! Darn. Jason, your luck on the show in terms of the cards turns out to be the inverse of Karen Hannis-McManus from earlier in the week. Last Tuesday, Karen didn’t have much luck in the maingame, but she did OK in the endgame. You had incredible luck in the maingame tonight, but you had TERRIBLE luck in the endgame, not even getting on the board despite having all three Power Chips in play. I’m so sorry, buddy.

But I hope you really enjoyed yourself on the show, you’re still a champion in a lot of people’s eyes, and I hope you spend that $1,000 wisely. God bless.

(As it turns out, though, had he played that 8 on the 9 at the beginning and waited three more cards for the 4, he could’ve doubled his winnings; that was the best he could’ve done with the cards given tonight.)

"Big Brother X"- DOUBLE EVICTION EPISODE

Eviction #1: Four votes in play.

1. Keesha: Michelle

2. Memphis: Michelle

If Michelle gets one more vote, she's done...

3. Bryan: Jerry

4. Renny: Michelle- EVICTED

Michelle Costa's the third member of the jury.

HoH Competition: Ollie's the only contestant left this season that has yet to win Head of Household; will that change tonight? Let's find out. Before tonight, those viewing the show's web page on CBS.com answered a series of questions based on imaginary headlines of the future. Each question asked which houseguest they thought would best fit a certain headline. The five contestants are given a headline with two houseugests, and they have to pick the one America gave more votes to for that headline by stepping either up or down. Seven headlines are posed; the one who makes the most matches wins.

1. Big Brother 10 Houseguest Gets Lost On Their Way Home From Work

Up: Jerry
Down: Keesha

Everybody but Renny goes with Keesha...correct.

2. Big Brother 10 Houseguest Headlines National Comedy Tour

Up: Dan
Down: Renny

Everybody but Memphis chooses Renny...correct, so Renny's on the board (now tied with Memphis) while Jerry, Keesha and Ollie each lead with two points.

3. Big Brother 10 Houseguest Called a Hero After Saving Family From Burning Building

Up: Dan
Down: Ollie

Everybody but Jerry sides with Ollie (though Ollie originally chose Dan)...bad switch, Ollie, because Dan got more votes. That means Jerry now has the lead by himself with three points.

4. Big Brother 10 Houseguest Entrusted With National Security Secret

Up: Jerry
Down: Memphis

Only Memphis chose himself...incorrect, so he's now in dead last while Jerry's at four points. Keesha and Ollie now have three while Renny now has two.

5. Big Brother 10 Houseguest's Life Story Made Into Feature Film

Up: Jerry
Down: Renny

Renny was the sole one to go with herself...in her case, she's right to go to three points. Memphis is now mathematically eliminated.

6. Big Brother 10 Houseguest Arrested By The Fashion Police

Up: Memphis
Down: Ollie

Jerry and Keesha choose Memphis while the others go with Ollie...the right one is Memphis, so only Jerry (5) and Keesha (4) remain a factor in this competition.

Final headline: Big Brother 10 Houseguest Beats Jessie In Arm Wrestling Competition

Up: Dan
Down: Keesha

Jerry chooses Dan, while Keesha naturally sticks with herself. If Keesha's correct, we go to Sudden Death...yes!

Sudden Death Question: When America gave you lollipops, how many total lollipops were displayed on the table after the Food Competition?

Jerry: 100
Keesha: 100

I don't recall that ever happening before on a tiebreaker question! Answer: 218.

Sudden Death Question #2: In the most recent Power of Veto competition, if you add the winner's time from all three heats, what would be the total time in terms of seconds?

Jerry: 320
Keesha: 500

The actual number of seconds is...

...1,556, meaning the first two-time Head of Household this season is Keesha! She then nominates Jerry and Ollie for eviction; I'm surprised Dan wasn't chosen, because he's a big threat in this game.

PoV Competiton: Inside two of each player's haystacks is a veto marker. Once a player finds one, they must go back to their starting position before going back to find the other one. The first player to find both markers and hit their buzzer wins.

Dan's the first one to find a marker for the early lead. Does he hold on to it at the end?...

...yes! His final decision...

...he leaves the nominations the same.

In the end, by a unanimous vote, the other player evicted tonight and the fourth member of the jury is...

Bryan
Jerry

...Bryan Ollie. Jerry, the oldest competitor in the competition, continues to stay alive!

"Reality Bites Back"- Semi-Finals

To decide the two finalists, it's time for "The Amazing Disgrace"!

Each of the three remaining comedians are joined by a partner.

Theo- Kevin (friend)
Amy- Kim (sister)
Mo- Chaya (brother)

Challenge #1: The comedians must drive ugly vans while their partners must listen and repeat aloud the directions said on a pre-recorded tape player.

1. Proceed forward to the next intersection.
2. Turn left to Gauer St.
3. Make an immediate left turn.
4. Turn right once getting to Sanderford Ave. (Both Theo and Mo's teams messed up this part)
5. Tell the driver to reset their odometer to zero.
6. Start heading east on the next intersection.
7. While in the "Windshield Wiper District" of L.A., the driver needs to be told that somewhere in their van was a second video tape that would change the rules of this game. The partners are not allowed to help them find that.
8. Open the glovebox and find a CARFAX vehicle history report and read it out loud.
9. Proceed to the "Pleasure Chest".

The ladies were in the lead, while Mo's team was last.

Challenge #2: "Pleasure Chest" turns out to be a porn video store. Here, the partners were given a list of five porn movies and they had to act out charades in order for their partners to ID each one. After identifying each one, the partner had to locate that movie. Once they got three right, found and returned them to Michael Ian Black, they would get their next clue.

At this point, Mo's team hadn't even gotten to their second audio tape! The girls finished this challenge first.

Challenge #3: This was a "Switch Hitter" challenge, this show's version of the Detour. They could either be chained to each other and do a quick, gross challenge, or take a bathroom break and have to complete a longer challenge that isn't so gross.

Theo & Kevin were now in the lead and chose to be chained, thus being forced to eat a three-course meal and drink a glass of water while in that position. Mo's team was now struggling with the porn video challenge, and the female team got lost.

Mo's team was the only one to do the bathroom challenge. Here, while he was locked inside a porto potty, Mo had to read aloud three math problems to his partner. The answers to those problems would comprise the combination to the porto potty door's lock, allowing their partner to unlock the door.

1. 4 X 4
2. Answer to first problem + 3
3. Answer to second problem - 37

Answers:

1. 16
2. 19
3. -18

After their respective challenge was completed, they needed to head to the Santa Monica Pier to find the Charity Bell, where the next clue would be found.

Final Challenge: Each team had to pick up one 60 pound dead fish and run it all the way down the boardwalk to the finish area. The first team to finish definitely sends their comedian to the finals.

At the Final Challenge, the current standings remained the same.

The first team to arrive is...

...Theo and Kevin, so Theo Von's the first finalist!

The ladies finished second and Mo's team finished last.

Now, "Deal or No Deal" came into play! Two briefcases were presented. One contained the word STAY while the other had GO. The second place team gets to choose the case, and if it says STAY, their comedian joins Theo in next week's final. If it says GO, they're eliminated.

Amy & Kim choose #2.

The final results...

Amy & Kim: #1 or #2

...well, it's still not over yet! Inside that case are two dolls each holding smaller versions of the #1 and #2 suitcases. They now choose #1...

Amy & Kim: STAY

...Amy Schumer's a finalist, eliminating Mo Mandel.

The final event will be called "American Surv-idoler's Kitchen"! That will be a combination of "American Idol", "Survivor" and "Hell's Kitchen" to determine the winner of the cash.

"The Gong Show" 8/28

This week's guests are Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, Adam Carolla and Kate Walsh.

Act 1: The Apple Sisters come from NYC (host Dave Attell's hometown) to perform a little singing skit that you might find in a play that also involves eating and spitting out corn. The audience starts to boo towards the end, and then Triumph gongs them.

Act 2: A person named Enigma decides to be a "chainsaw apple cutting" mime.

TRIUMPH: 400
ADAM: 486
KATE: 300
TOTAL: 1,186

Act 3: Dave, while wearing an orange suit with real clarinets scattered all over it, plays the second half of "The Star Spangled Banner", and in several spots, confetti comes out of the clarinets!

TRIUMPH: 350
ADAM: 421
KATE: 457
TOTAL: 1,228

Act 4: Justin Riviera performs a magic act involving compact discs. On one of them, he made it turn into a Slinky.

TRIUMPH: 360
ADAM: 351
KATE: 222
TOTAL: 933

Act 5: A pair of twin boys called Tic and Tac (the left one is Tac while the right one is Tic) do the "Human Helicopter" with no hands.

TRIUMPH: 350
ADAM: 425
KATE: 300
TOTAL: 1,075

Act 6: Ivan and Ivan Checkov Jones do, I think, some contortionist work, but Kate gongs it before I really find out what's going on.

Final Act: A lady named Claire pops several pink balloons on her body using a knife. She does pop all the balloons, but she gets gonged anyway, so Dave's the winner!

Dave Juskow's Extremely Short Act: Attempting to be a boxer with fireman's materials next to him.

Here's a special video promo about the next season of "Millionaire".

Considering she got confused on quite a few questions that she was asked, it was only a matter of time before she lost. And that's the first time in history that two contestants lost in the same episode. Unless some other show bombs out early, the show will return next year.

"Wheel" Season 26 update

There are a few added changes to the upcoming 26th season of "Wheel of Fortune":

-Surprisingly, the Big Money Wedge has been retired; thus, the third round's title goes back to being called the $10,000 Mystery Round. The flat screen from it will now be moved to the Jackpot wedge during the Jackpot Round, as it will now show the current jackpot amount on each spin.

-Not surprisingly, the $10K and 25 wedges have been retired as well.

"America's Got Talent"- Performance Show II

Before we get to the second set of 10 from this season's Top 40, it's time to reveal who's moving on to the Top 20. Four of the five that move on to the next round were determined by the votes of the home viewers, while the other is chosen by the judges.

Let's see who moved on because of the viewers...

Extreme Dance FX
The James Gang
Derrick Barry
Elite
Ronny B.
The Cadence
Jessica Price
Shimshi
DC Cowboys
Neal E. Boyd

...now, the ones definitely eliminated...

The James Gang
Derrick Barry
Elite
Ronny B.
Shimshi
DC Cowboys

...as soon as Derrick was paired with Neal E. Boyd, I knew Derrick was toast. The judges then determined that the last qualifier out of this pool of ten was...

The James Gang
Elite

...The James Gang. Too bad Elite got cut.

Now, for the second group of ten. First up was the Beyond Belief Dance Company and they danced to PCD's new hit single, "When I Grow Up". Piers thought the performance started on a bad note, but got better as time went on. Sharon said more gymnastic moves were needed. David thought they nailed it. My score: 7.

Second was the Frank Sinatra impersonator, Paul Salos. His song choice this time was "I Did It My Way". Piers said he wisely did it the same way Frank Sinatra would've done it. Sharon thought he was classy and David thought he was Vegas. I gave him a 9!

Third was Kazual, a black singing quartet, and they sung "Damaged" by Danity Kane. I can understand why Piers buzzed them early on; their singing sounded awful, mainly because they chose the wrong song to sing, as Danity Kane is a girl singing group. Piers added that when the group shifted to individual singing parts, most of the group members blew it. Sharon agreed, while David said half the group was nervous, but thought the group pulled it together in the end. I only gave them a 3.

Fourth were the ZOOperstars, who came out on Segways while performing to a medley of Village People songs. Piers almost immediately buzzed them and if he wanted to, shoot all five of them down with a harpoon. Sharon thought it was a good halftime routine but didn't think that this act would sustain a while in Vegas. David thought they were funny and entertaining. Although they improved towards the middle of the act, I thought these guys were a bit stiff, so I gave them a 6.

Ozzy Osbourne was in the audience!

In the halfway spot were the Wright Kids, a youth band from Rocky Mount, VA that performed this time to "Daydream Believer" by The Monkees. Piers thought they were a charming band. Sharon said they took a risk with this song and thought it paid off for them. David thought that he was seeing "The Patridge Family" again with that performance. I decided to hand them a 7.

After them was Jonathan Arons, performing to "Boogie Wonderland". Piers thought he was incredibly entertaining. Sharon thought his instrument was out of tune. David agreed with Piers. I also gave him a 7.

Daniel Jens was next, playing/singing to "Every Breath You Take" by Sting. Piers thought he was just OK and still hasn't heard a singer this night that was worthy of a Vegas act. Sharon said he was running short on breath about midway in the act. David thought he was an inspirational man. I also handed him a 7.

Next were the Slippery Kittens with "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy". Piers buzzed them about midway in the act for taking their clothes off in a spot that wasn't of his liking. Sharon thought they were capable of performing in Vegas, and David liked them as well. Another 7 from me.

Next-to-last was George the Giant, who decided this time to act like a human pinata. I can see why Piers and Sharon buzzed this; it was poorly executed. Piers thought it was childish, embarassing and pathetic. Sharon thought the buildup at the beginning was wasted on a humorous act, and David thought it was strange. I gave him a 5.

Finally, Queen Emily (Davis) sung "Ain't No Mountain High Enough". Piers thought he had just found a superstar. The other judges agreed, so I gave her the night's only 10!

More sneak preview footage for "Hole in the Wall"

In addition to the September 9th sneak preview episode (starting at 9:35 PM EST), another sneak preview episode has been scheduled for September 7th immediately following that day's NFL doubleheader on FOX.

Various sources contributed to this report.

"America's Got Talent" Live Performance Show I

The first act up was Extreme Dance FX. Piers thought the performance was terrific, after saying he didn't feel they belonged in the Top 40. He then suggested that the next time they be better, faster and tighter. Sharon liked it and David was proved wrong about most of the young performers in this group. I gave them an 8.

Second was The James Gang. During most of their performance, they threw confetti all over the stage! Piers thought it went downhill after the first half. Sharon said they gave the people too much too soon. David said despite telling them they needed to tighten their act, he still thought they were still what the show was all about. My score: 6. Had it not been for the confetti, I would've given it a 5.

Third was Derrick Barry, the Britney Spears impersonator. The song performed was "Hit Me Baby, One More Time". Piers buzzed the performance early on and said that Britney should be left to Britney. The other two judges obviously disagreed with him. I gave it a 7.

Fourth was Elite from Galax, VA, featuring a 10-year-old girl! Remember, this was a fighting stunt act; in this case, it was pirate-themed. Piers loved the creativity. Sharon thought she could be the next Lara Croft. David thought she could open "Treasure Island". I scored this an 8.

Going fifth was Ronny B., who danced and sung to "She Bangs" by Ricky Martin. I HATED his singing of the chorus parts. Piers was entertained but thought he wouldn't win the competition. Sharon also liked him despite being absurd. David buzzed him towards the end of the performance, but still kinda liked it. I gave this act a 6.

Taking the sixth spot were The Cadence, the band of crazy drummers. They patterned their performance on the song "Beat It". Piers thought they were dynamic because they listed to the judges' advice from their previous performance (s), despite not liking the beginning part. Sharon wanted to see more nastiness. David thought they still had lots of potential. I handed them a 7.

The lucky seven spot went to Jessica Price, and this time played her guitar to "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper. Honestly, this kind of song just doesn't sound right being played solely with a guitar. But all of the judges liked it, so I gave her a 7.

Next was Shimshi. In order to get the right card that was hanging above him, he did a double back kick to knock it off, and after previously tearing one of the corners off that card (Ace of Spades) he picked up the torn corner and placed it back on the card. Piers thought this guy was too good to perform just a card act on the big stage. Sharon thought it was perfect. David thought a bigger trick was needed. I decided to give him a 6.

After that came the DC Cowboys, and danced to "Footloose". Piers buzzed them early for allegedly performing way below the standard the show was looking for. Sharon said their personalities made up for their lack of superior dancing. David agreed with Piers. I also gave them a 6.

Neal E. Boyd went last, this time performing "Somewhere (There's a Place For Us)" by Hayley Westenra. Piers thought he was incredible and thought he should be the Michael Phelps of this competition. Sharon thought he was superb and David agreed that he belonged at the top. I gave him a 10!

The show wrapped up with the announcement of the Wild Card act for this season. And it went to...

...Donald Braswell!

On the next episode, ten more acts performed and five of these acts would advance to the Top 20.

Bad news for my readers

After looking over my programming guides starting on September 8th, I regret to inform you that as of right now, because no Richmond, VA station picked it up next season, that I will no longer be covering episodes of the John O' Hurley-hosted "Family Feud". I guess I'll have to wait until the reruns of the upcming season pop up on GSN or ION.

Additionally, because of some weird programming monkeys at WTVR (also a Richmond station), I will only be covering the upcoming season of "Millionaire" on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the time being, as paid programming replaces it in the same 10 AM time slot on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They also apparently have picked up the "best of" package of "Merv Griffin's Crosswords", but only air it on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with paid programming taking over its 10:30 AM time slot on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This kind of daytime schedule reminds me of the "checkerboard scheduling" that occurred when syndicated TV programming began, before the five days-a-week syndicated shows came in full bloom.

"Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy!" remain in their usual homes on WRIC (7 PM and 7:30 PM respectively), and "Deal or No Deal" will begin September 8th on the same station at 4 PM before the 4:30 PM news.

"Big Brother X" 8/26

Before I start this episode, I would like to point out that Thursday’s live episode will be a DOUBLE EVICTION EPISODE.

Jerry was the lucky winner of America’s Vote, so he was able to call her daughter and a few other members of his family.

Power of Veto Competition: Joining Dan, Jerry and Memphis here are Renny, Keesha and Michelle. The host is Bryan Ollie, since he’s the only one that didn’t get picked for this competition. This challenge was space-related. Here, the players have to fly and pick up pieces to a puzzle, one piece at a time. Once they had all the necessary pieces, they could solve the puzzle; however, there were a few worthless puzzle pieces in each player’s rack. The winners of the first and second heats go to the final round, where the winner there wins the Power of Veto.

Heat 1: Dan, Keesha and Michelle play. With Dan not planning on winning this challenge and Michelle having big problems with the puzzleboard, Keesha wins this easily.

Heat 2: Jerry, Memphis and Renny now compete. Winner by a landslide: Memphis.

The winner of the Power of Veto is…

…Memphis, so Dan’s plan has worked out after all!

In the end, after Dan’s final decision, joining Jerry in Thursday’s opening eviction ceremony will be…

…Michelle Costa.

Catch 21: Let’s bring on these players:

Roger- Director of business development for a company
Karen Hannis-McManus- Art appraiser
Felipe- Superintendent for construction developer

OPENING CARDS IN ROUND 1:

ROGER: 5 OF HEARTS
KAREN: ACE OF HEARTS
FELIPE: 7 OF HEARTS

Karen gets the first question right, but instead of a 10 or a face card, a 2 of Clubs shows up, prompting her to pass it to Roger. She’s right again on question #2, and is again denied a 10 card- a 5 of Clubs pops up, and she passes that to Roger too (12).

Then comes question #3, and she nails that too…but in this case, the third time isn’t the charm, as a 3 of Spades rears its ugly head. Like the past two turns, she passes the card to Roger (15). Finally, a King of Clubs appears on the fourth turn…but Felipe gets that question right instead, allowing him to bust Roger with nothing on his scoreboard for the round.

The correct answer on the fifth question is given by Karen…and has more bad luck, as a Deuce of Spades shows up, so she passes that to Felipe (9). She’s right on question #6…and you guessed it, a 4 of Spades appears instead of the big card she needs, and that will go to Felipe (13).

Karen then answers the seventh question correctly, thus needing a 9, 10 or face card to win the round…and the 9 of Clubs does it for her! Just like that, she’s locked up a berth in the Championship Round with 1,100!

ROUND 2 OPENING CARDS:

ROGER: QUEEN OF HEARTS
KAREN: KING OF SPADES
FELIPE: 9 OF DIAMONDS

After a few questions, the board now:

ROGER: (QH)(7S) = 17
KAREN: (KS)(4D) = 14
FELIPE: 9 OF DIAMONDS

Roger is still scoreless while Felipe has doubled to 200. Here’s the next question this round:

Water boils at 100 degrees on what scale?

KAREN: Celsius- CORRECT (1,300)
CARD: 9 OF SPADES; PASSES TO ROGER AND HE’S ELIMINATED FROM THE GAME (26)

Final hands of this round:

KAREN: (KS)(4D)(10D) = BUSTED AT 24
FELIPE: 9 OF DIAMONDS = WIN BY DEFAULT

TRIPLE STUMPER(S) THIS ROUND:

Who is the love of The Great Gatsby’s life?

A: Daisy May
B: Daisy Buchanan
C: Daisy Duke

KAREN: Daisy May- NO
ROGER: NO ANSWER IN TIME
ANSWER: Daisy Buchanan

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND BASE CARDS:

KAREN: 6 OF HEARTS
FELIPE: 7 OF CLUBS

Karen gets the opening question right to pass a Jack of Hearts to Felipe, putting him in danger of busting. Second question:

On “The Jetsons”, George works where?

A: Cogswell Cogs
B: Rockwell’s Rocket Racer
C: Spacely’s Space Sprockets

FELIPE: Cogswell Cogs- NO
KAREN: Spacely Space Sprockets- YOU BET

If the next card is anything higher than a 4, she’s won it.

CARD: 6 OF DIAMONDS- WIN!

Super Catch 21: Given the extreme bad luck she had with the cards in the first round, I don’t like Karen’s chances, even with her two Power Chips. After using both Power Chips, here’s what’s on the board for her so far:

HAND #1: (JC)(3D) = 13
HAND #2: 9 OF HEARTS
HAND #3: QUEEN OF SPADES

CARD #4: 8 OF HEARTS; HAND #1 CLEARED ($1,000)

CARD #5: KING OF CLUBS; PLACED IN HAND #2 (19)

CARD #6: 6 OF HEARTS; PLACED IN HAND #3 (16) AND QUITS

She goes home with two large.

CARD #7: QUEEN OF CLUBS

BIG PROGRAMMING NOTE: GSNN's own Jason Block is scheduled to be a contestant on Friday's episode!

Wipeout: Tonight’s Wipeout Qualifier has the Topple Towers, the Butt Kicker (the foot version of the Sucker Punch), the Big Balls and the Donut Swing. Notables:

Colleen Smith: 3:25.5 (despite SIX Wipeouts!)
Tory Mell: 3:00.3 (five WOs)
April Robles: 1:48.8 (three WOs)
Richard Mendoza: 1:53.2

Joining these people except Colleen on the Sweeper are Gina Capelli, Brittany Gilman, Calvin Bonds, Carlos Moreno, Shane Johnson (a woman), Larry Hanes, Jenny Quam, Michael Bertrand and Jessye Liebow.

Sweeper: Instead of jumping over one pole, each player has to jump in between two poles.

Elimination order:

1. Calvin
2. Brittany
3. Jessye
4. Gina
5. Larry
6. Jenny

The $1,000 goes to April, who wins her second round in a row. Is she going to be the first female champion on this show?

Dizzy Dummy: The odd-numbered heats have contestants running on the floating block maze, while the even-numbered heats force people to run over a series of teeter-totters.

Heat 1: After tons of Wipeouts, Richard makes it through.

Heat 2: Carlos is in.

Heat 3: The third time’s the charm for April to go to the Wipeout Zone!

Heat 4: The final Wipeout Zone berth goes to Michael.

Wipeout Zone: The water slide tonight is surrounded by fog, and at the end of the slide the players encounter a series of colored balls. After the barrel run, they must navigate their way through the waterwall before taking on the Spinner and the Launch Pads.

April: 16:46.53

Michael: Despite making it to the Launch Pads with over six minutes left on the clock, after failing there the first time, he quits! I can’t believe that.

Carlos: The Spinner severely limits his room for error on the Launch Pads…and he falls there, so he is eliminated.

That means Richard stands between April from making history…

…history denied again- Richard is tonight’s $50,000 winner.

"World Poker Tour"- GSN GRAND FINALE

Well, this is it. Not only was this the WPT World Championship, this is the GSN finale and the last time I will be blogging poker for a while. And we saved the best for last, because this night’s record-breaking top prize was…

$3,389,140

Opening chip count:

1. Gus Hansen- $8.57 million
2. Cory Carroll- $6.67 million
3. David Chiu- $6.05 million
4. John Roveto- $2.72 million
5. Tommy Le- $1.95 million
6. Jeff King- $1,305,000

CC won the first pot at $560,000 with a $350K raise that was enough to make Hansen fold. Roveto won the second pot at $645K in similar fashion, but with Chiu being the one to fold that time. The first full-fledged action of the night came in hand #3:

Tommy: (AC)(10C)
Cory: (AS)(QH)

BASE POT: $870,000
THE FLOP: (QC)(JS)(2S)

Top pair for Carroll, but Le had a Broadway Straight draw. Carroll tried to end the hand with a $550K bet…he did for a $1.42M pot! He faced Hansen in the fourth hand.

Cory: (AH)(3C)
Gus: (8C)(4H)

BASE POT: $890,000
THE FLOP: (3S)(10S)(10C)

Hansen bet $530K but Carroll raised to $1.13M…and Hansen folded to give him a $2.55M pot and the lead!

A few hands later, King went ALL IN and Hansen went for it.

Jeff: (KS)(JC)
Gus: DOUBLE 2s (Diamonds and Hearts)

POT: $2.09 million
THE FLOP: (JC)(8D)(KH)

King loved that flop!

TURN: 9 OF HEARTS

The only thing that could go wrong for King was for the last remaining deuce to show up (one deuce was folded before the flop)…

RIVER: 3 OF HEARTS

…close, but no cigar, so King doubled up. Next hand:

Cory: (KS)(QC)
David: (KD)(9H)

BASE POT: $1.14 million
THE FLOP: (QH)(3D)(AD)
TURN: 3 OF CLUBS

At this point, Chiu was drawing dead, and wisely folded after Carroll wagered $575K, for a total pot of $1,715,000. Next, King faced Hansen in an ALL IN situation for the second time.

Jeff: (AC)(QC)
Gus: (10S)(9S)

POT: $4,375,000
THE FLOP: (4H)(8D)(6C)

Gutshot straight draw for Hansen.

TURN: KING OF CLUBS

King now had a flush draw, and he now needed to stay away from a 7, a 9, or a 10 that was not of the Club variety…

RIVER: 10 OF HEARTS

OOPS, so he left in sixth place with $263,815. That also meant Hansen was now back in the lead and jumped into eight figures! The chip count after the first 31 minutes:

1. Gus- $10,465,000
2. Cory- $6.37 million
3. David- $4,945,000
4. John- $2.41 million
5. Tommy- $1,075,000

The top two traded near $2M pots on the next two hands. Next hand:

Tommy: DOUBLE 5s (Diamonds and Spades)
Gus: DOUBLE 10s (Diamonds and Spades)

BASE POT: $985K (I’m surprised it wasn’t bigger at that point, given both had a pair)
THE FLOP: (10C)(QH)(5C)

Triple 10s for Hansen, which meant Le was instantly drawing dead.

TURN: 4 OF SPADES

Le then commits SUICIDE by going ALL IN, and needless to say, Hansen didn’t fold.

RIVER CARD JUST FOR GIGGLES: 3 OF CLUBS

Le’s fifth place haul was $395,725. The next hand was between the top two chip leaders.

Cory: (AD)(JS)
Gus: (7D)(5D)

BASE POT: $3.36 million
THE FLOP: (6D)(QC)(JD)

Instant diamond flush draw for Hansen, while CC made middle pair. This hand could’ve come a long way towards deciding the champion between these two, with over $3M in the pot already. Hansen then went well over the top by pushing ALL IN, which would place Carroll ALL IN…

HE WENT FOR IT!! We now had the most critical hand of the night; whoever won this $17.12 million pot would likely go on to win this tournament. The turn card…

TURN: QUEEN OF HEARTS

…was of no help to anybody. If this last card was a Diamond and it wasn’t the Queen, Hansen won and Carroll would be eliminated…

RIVER: 3 OF DIAMONDS

HANSEN GOT THE FLUSH!!! Carroll had to settle for the fourth place prize of $593,645. And color commentator Vince Van Patten nearly left the broadcast booth!

1. Gus- $20,635,000
2. David- $4,645,000
3. John- $1,985,000

Two hands later, it looked like Roveto would be a goner when he pushed ALL IN against Hansen, but lucky for him, Hansen folded to put him at an even $2M. But Roveto went ALL IN for good against Hansen on the next hand.

Gus: (AC)(10C)
John: DOUBLE KINGS (Hearts and Spades)

POT: $4,175,000
THE FLOP: (JH)(9D)(8S)

Hansen now had an open-ended straight draw.

TURN: 6 OF DIAMONDS

And that last card was…

RIVER: 7 OF QUEENS

…a 7 and Hansen has knocked out his fourth player in a row!!! Roveto left as the second runner-up with $923,355.

MONEY PRESENTATION: TRAYS OF MONEY

HEAD’S UP CHIP COUNT:
Gus- $22,905,000
David- $4.36 million

Three hands into the final round, this could be the history-making moment as Chiu was ALL IN.

Gus: DOUBLE 2s (Clubs and Hearts)
David: DOUBLE 5s (Clubs and Hearts)

POT: $7.61 million
FLOP: (JD)(7D)(KS)- DUD
TURN: 7 OF SPADES

If a Jack or a King popped up on the river, this would be a split pot. But if it was a deuce, Hansen has won it all…

RIVER: QUEEN OF CLUBS

…it was a Queen, so Chiu doubled up outright. But he lost a lot of that momentum when he got bluffed out on a later hand to give Hansen a $5.4M pot. But he would regain it and then some by going ALL IN and going up to $12,125,000! With about 15 minutes left, the new chip count:

Gus- $14,825,000
David- $12.45 million

Next hand:

David: (9H)(7H)
Gus: (JS)(6D)

BASE POT: $1.65 million
FLOP: (4D)(5D)(5H)
TURN: ACE OF SPADES
RIVER: 9 OF CLUBS

That last card gave Chiu the lead. Hansen then attempted a bluff by betting $900K, but it didn’t work, giving Chiu a $3.45M pot and the lead! Next hand:

Gus: (KH)(2D)
David: (8C)(7H)

BASE POT: $1.4 million
FLOP: (10D)(6D)(3H)

Chiu had a straight draw.

TURN: 4 OF HEARTS

Hansen now had a straight draw as well, and then bet $850K…but Chiu responded by raising to $2.35M! Hansen’s next decision…

WAS TO FOLD, giving Chiu a $4.6M pot! Are we about to see a royal collapse here? Next hand:

David: (AS)(9S)
Gus: (10S)(8H)
BASE POT: $1.55M
FLOP: (AC)(10C)(8S)

Chiu had top pair, but Hansen led with two pair. Hansen needed to win a huge pot on this next hand to take the lead back. He wagered $900K next and Chiu matched it.

TURN: 5 OF SPADES

Chiu now had a flush draw and winning this hand would put him in the driver’s seat. He then quickly bet $1.2 million…

…and Hansen went ALL IN! This meant this hand would decide it. If Hansen won this pot, he would be over $23M in chips and with time running short, he would avoid one of the biggest collapses in WPT history and win GSN’s largest prize ever; if Chiu went for it and won, he would win it. Chiu’s decision was…

TO GO FOR IT!! Here’s the deal. If this last card was a 5, a 9, an Ace or a Spade, David Chiu has pulled off what might very well be the greatest comeback in WPT history. Otherwise, Hansen has won.

THE ALL-IMPORTANT RIVER CARD…

…WORTH ALMOST $3.4 MILLION…

…IS…

RIVER: ACE OF HEARTS

THE BIG UPSET HAS HAPPENED!!! David Chiu has prevented Gus Hansen from winning his fourth WPT title and has now made GSN history by winning almost $3.4M! Hansen leaves with $1,714,800.

Despite the WPT leaving GSN, I will still remain a poker fan. I’ve had so much fun covering all the fun this season!

"Bingo America" update

According to Buzzerblog, I would like to elaborate just a bit on the new bonus round. If you know how the first part of the endgame of the Doug Morris-hosted netgame "Net Poker" works, you pretty much know how the new bonus round works.

As we said earlier, 20 wrecking balls will be hidden on the bonus board. The day's champion begins on the B row and hopes to pick a square that doesn't have one of the wrecking balls behind it. If he/she does so, he/she wins cash and can stop with the money at that point or risk it and move on to the next row. Each subsequent row will have more wrecking balls on it than the previous row. Five successful picks wins the $100,000.

The second season begins on October 6th at 6:30 PM EST.

DEBUT: "America's Toughest Jobs"

The host is Josh Temple.

MISSION #1: Crab fishing while in Juneau, AK. The Tempo Sea is captained by “Kiwi” John Hansen and the Fierce Allegiance is captained by Tony LaRussa (not the St. Louis Cardinals manager).

The 13 contestants are:

Amy Brodsky
Ben Coleman
Bryce Frazier
Chris Young
Eric Waterhouse
Michaela Clemence
Phil Kolarczyk
Rick Broider
Rie Heffron
Rommel Gargoles
Sandy Gabriel
Senta Burke
Steven Hopper

In order to catch the crab, both teams had to set, bait and launch a string of thirty 800 pound steel pots into the water. They then had to sort the crabs by legal type and size. After two days, the two worst people from each boat faced elimination.

Before the crab fishing actually began, everybody was asked to eat a head right off a fresh fish. Amy backed out because she was allergic.

What makes crab fishing so difficult are the extremely cold temperatures we have to work with. At about 11 PM of day one, Rick threw up.

Near the end of day one, Eric came this close to being tangled up by a buoy tossed by Amy and being tossed into the ocean. Ben encountered the same situation during Day 2 with Sandy.

Michaela had some trouble with the bait rope tossing. Steven was being too slow on the job.

All in all, 1,411 crabs were caught. The average salary for a fisherman is $29,805.98; that amount goes into the show’s jackpot. Only the show’s champion will win that money, which is expected to total around $250,000.

BEST WORKER ON THE FIERCE ALLEGIANCE: Michaela

BEST WORKER ON THE TEMPO SEA: Sandy

WORST TWO WORKERS ON THE FIERCE ALLEGIANCE: Steven and Senta

WORST TWO WORKERS ON THE TEMPO SEA: Amy and Eric

The bottom four then went back to crab fishing. After that voyage, the one out of those four that did the worst will be eliminated.

The very first eliminated contestant on “America’s Toughest Jobs” is…

Amy
Eric
Senta
Steven

…Senta Burke.

Catch 21: These players are ready to play tonight:

Darrin Reid (NYC)- Bartender
Lynda (Orange County)- Music marketer
Jack Minor (originally from Eagle Lake, TX)

ROUND 1 OPENING CARDS:

DARRIN: 10 OF HEARTS
LYNDA: 2 OF HEARTS
JACK: JACK OF DIAMONDS

After question #1, Lynda makes a questionable decision in passing a King of Diamonds to Jack (giving him a 20); I guess she knew that he wouldn’t be able to freeze since he didn’t get the question right.

But apparently she was onto something; Darrin gets the second question right and busts Jack by giving him a 4 of Hearts. She freezes after the fourth question with 18 after voluntarily taking a 10 of Clubs to go with the base deuce and a 6 of Clubs.

DARRIN:
CARD #5: 5 OF CLUBS (15)
CARD #6: ACE OF DIAMONDS (16)
CARD #7: QUEEN OF CLUBS; LYNDA WINS (700)

Darrin has 200 while Jack…doesn’t have jack on the board.

BASE CARDS IN ROUND 2:

DARRIN: 2 OF SPADES
LYNDA: KING OF CLUBS
JACK: 8 OF DIAMONDS

Jack gets on the board via the opening question and after getting a King of Spades, freezes at 18. Alas, Lynda is right on the second query and picks up a 9 of Hearts, and with her deciding to freeze at 19, Jack ain’t leaving with jack.

DARRIN:
CARD #3: QUEEN OF HEARTS (12)
CARD #4: ACE OF HEARTS (13)
CARD #5: 5 OF DIAMONDS (18)
CARD #6: 3 OF SPADES- WIN

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND BASE CARDS:

DARRIN: 3 OF CLUBS
LYNDA: QUEEN OF SPADES

After missing out on an instant win on the first question (as Darrin steals an Ace of Spades), Lynda gets the second one right to collect a Jack of Clubs and freezes at 20.

DARRIN:
CARD #3: 10 OF SPADES (14)
CARD #4: JACK OF SPADES- LYNDA WINS

Super Catch 21: After using both of her Power Chips and six turns, here’s what we’ve got:

HAND #1: (6H)(4S)(10D) = 20
HAND #2: (9C)(7D) = 16
HAND #3: (9D)(JD) = 19

CARD #7: 3 OF CLUBS, WHICH IS PLACED IN HAND #2 (19)

CARD #8: ACE OF HEARTS; HAND #1 CLEARED ($1,000) AND QUITS

Good thing she decided to double her base money, because…

CARD #9: KING OF CLUBS

DOND: Season 4 is underway! A new techno intro theme has been introduced (which I hate so far), Howie now comes under the rising money amount screen, the lights on the models’ steps have been updated a bit and the Banker’s Room has been given a makeover.

Beginning the third Million Dollar Mission with us is Koshka Blagburn from Glenarden, MD. We’re going to refer to her as Re-Re, since that’s her given nickname. With four $1,000,000 cases in play, her case of destiny is #18.

6. #12- $75,000

The Lucky Case Game has been re-named “Beat the Banker”. Those who enter via texting on their cell phone can get the new “Beat the Banker” SMS game.

ROUND 2:
1. #8- $75
2. #10- ONE MILLION DOLLARS
3. #14- $50
4. #20- ONE MILLION DOLLARS
5. #4- $5

SECOND OFFER TURNED DOWN: $51,000

ROUND 3:
1. #17- $100
2. #23- $1,000
3. #22- $200
4. #9- $500

THIRD OFFER: $95,000
BANKER BONUS: “The Biggest Loser” library of books and DVDs, a personal training session with Jillian Michaels, one year “The Biggest Loser Meal Club” membership and a lifetime membership with the “Biggest Loser” online site ($17,500)
DECISION (what else?): NO DEAL

ROUND 4:
1. #19- $50,000
2. #6- ONE MILLION DOLLARS (DANGER ZONE ENFORCED)
3. #1- $300,000 (STRIKE ONE!)

FOURTH OFFER: $66,000- NO DEAL

BANKER BONUS #2: If Koshka goes all the way and still has the $1,000,000 in play as one of the two cases remaining, no matter what happens, she will automatically win a trip to NYC, a Broadway musical audition and a walk on role on the play “Hairspray” ($7,000).

ROUND 5:
1. #13- $300
2. #21- $10

FIFTH OFFER: $101,000- NO DEAL

PICK #21: #25- $750
OFFER: $155,000- NO DEAL

PICK #22: #7- $200,000 (STRIKE TWO!!)
OFFER: $170,000- NO DEAL

Prior to the seventh offer, Aretha Franklin called!

Re-Re’s next pick is #26…

…10 grand!

OFFER: $286,000- NO DEAL

Her next stop is #24…

PENNY!!! That means she is assured of at least $5,000 and a trip to NYC!

FINAL OFFER: $530,000

Her decision is…

NO DEAL!!!

She then decides to keep her case.

Now, the moment of truth. Either she is going home with $12,000 in cash and prizes, or she is the show’s first-ever millionaire AND gets to go to Broadway to boot.

DID IT PAY FOR RE-RE TO BELIEVE IN HERSELF AND GO ALL THE WAY?...

…HAS THIS MILLION DOLLAR MISSION ALREADY ENDED BEFORE IT EVEN GOT STARTED?...

…AND IS SHE THE FIRST “DEAL OR NO DEAL” MILLIONAIRE???...

…NO.

But it’s not a total washout, as she still leaves us with $12K in cash and prizes. Good luck to her.

Video Bonus: Last three minutes or so of Koshka's game

WINNER: Nancy Todd Tyner ($68,640)("World Poker Tour")
RUNNER-UP: Vanessa Selbst ($40,815)("World Poker Tour")
3rd PLACE: Michael ? and Michael Bawsley ($6,000 each)("Catch 21")

ZONK ANSWER OF THE WEEK: Wanna know why John Dunn only got one question right while winning last Friday's episode of "Catch 21"? One reason was that on the very first question of the entire episode, he rang in with "Nightmare on Elm Street" when he was supposed to name the horror movie icon famous for wearing a hockey mask (Jason Voorhees).

"Big Brother X" 8/24

Jerry was the first player eliminated in the current HoH Competition and had trouble walking when he decided to give up the competition by dropping on the mat.

The elimination order thereafter:

2. Keesha
3. Michelle
4. Memphis

It came down to Dan and Bryan. The new Head of Household is…

…former America’s Player, Dan!

After that, it looked like a sure bet Jerry would again be nominated for eviction. Currently, Dan has an alliance with April, Memphis and Renny; Dan felt he would be doomed if Memphis ever got evicted.

After lots of thought, Dan decided to put up for eviction this week…

…Jerry and Memphis. He’s gambling that Jerry will be sent to the jury after this Thursday’s episode.

"Bingo America" Season 2 update

As reported earlier today, Richard Karn is the new host of GSN's "Bingo America". There is also a new hostess this season- Diane.

Hollywood Junket also reported today that the studio audience will have more involvement in the maingame this season. Each audience member wears a shirt with a number and letter on it. Also, each contestant will represent either the red player or the blue player. Every time a Bingo Ball comes out, the audience member whose shirt's letter and number matches what's on the ball stands up. If one of the two contestants answer a question correctly, that audience member gets to put on the colored cap corresponding to that player and becomes a member of that contestant's rooting section. At the end of the match, everybody who is in the winning contestant's rooting section each get $25.

The $100,000 bonus round has also been changed. This time, you have to dodge a series of 20 wrecking balls on the board in order to win all that money. Full information about the new bonus round is coming soon.

Most recent "Amazing Race" reruns to air on Travel Channel

Gameshownewsnet and Variety reported today that Travel Channel has acquired the rerun rights to last season's episodes of Amazing Race from CBS Television Distribution. It will also rerun any future seasons after Season 12, including the upcoming 13th season.

GSN still holds the rerun rights to Seasons 1-8 of "Race", while Fox Reality Channel reruns the 9th through 11th seasons, including the All-Star edition.

"Jeopardy!" 25th Anniversary season details announced

The Futon Critic and Sony have revealed the following about the upcoming season of "Jeopardy!" with Alex Trebek, which will be celebrating its 25th anniversary this coming season:

-The season will begin with a special Kids Week Reunion Week, where 15 selected players from the show's first Kids Weeks from 1999 and 2000 are brought back to play again.

-There will be updates on the show's most memorable contestants.

-There will be a segment called "Ask Alex", where host Trebek will answer some of your most FAQ's about the show.

"The Contender: Muay Thai"- Episode 4

Early on in the episode, Yukai and Alain were ill.

With Rafik Bakkouri eliminated last week, Bruce Macfie replaced him as the captain of the Wild Boars.

Challenge #4: One member at a time, each team had to break a series of ice blocks in order to collect the puzzle pieces needed to solve a puzzle. Once all of their ice blocks were broken, the team could then try and solve their puzzle, which was their team’s logo. The first team that solved their puzzle and hung a mask above it won.

The Wild Boars had the early lead and were the first ones to take their shot at their puzzle. Did they hang on to win their third challenge out of four?...

…NO, thanks to leaving out a puzzle piece, so the Tiger Kings won their second challenge in a row after they had lost their first two! They won the right to eat dinner at an exotic resort.

PRELIMINARY FIGHT #4: Yodsaenklai (Tiger Kings) vs. Bruce Macfie (Wild Boars)

Will Macfie be the second captain in a row to fall? Let’s find out.

Round 1: While Yodsaenklai did nothing but kicks this round, they were enough to help him dominate this round, so I gave him a 10-9 score.

Round 2: This was a tighter round than the first, with Yodsaenklai starting to use some punches as well. I gave him another round, so he led after two, 20-18.

Round 3: Another solid round goes to Yodsaenklai, making the score 30-27.

Round 4: Early on in the round, Macfie missed a kick and fell on the ground. I felt this was Macfie’s best round thus far, but thanks to that early fall, I gave Yodsaenklai another round. Thus, I had it 40-36 after four.

Final Round: I thought Macfie won this round, but it was too little too late, as Yodsaenklai advanced to the quarterfinals. My final score was 49-46.

Merv Griffin’s Crosswords: This is the second episode I’ve covering with the very first main game format (Episode #12). Our opening players are Alex Carcannon (a deputy district attorney from Colorado) and Linda Williamson (a California writer).

Nobody got to see the day’s first Extra, as neither came up with the right answer of BRAID on the clue of “Hair weave?” (the first Crossword Getaway also went unclaimed as well). At the end of the first round, Linda has $550 while Alex has $150.

Today’s Spoilers are Gwen, Erik and Sharon.

ROUND 2:
1. (Five-letter word)- Obey a comma. Linda goes with PAUSE…right to go to $750! She also places a mini-vacation to Pismo Beach, CA in her bank.
2. (_ _ _ _ _ S)- Ocean predators of WWII. Alex says they’re UBOATS…they are for $350.
3. (_ _ _ U _ _ _ _)($300)- Right on the nose. Sharon totally misses it with NOSTRIL; it was ACCURATE.
4. (Five letters)- Film set on the spaceship Nostromo. Linda goes with ALIEN…yes for $950!
5. (Thirteen letters)($300)- Ward Cleaver and Mike Brady, e.g. Gwen attempts to spoil with SITCOM FATHERS…great guess, but that’s incorrect. It was FATHER FIGURES.
6. (Six letters)(Extra)- Like a small and slender dress. Nobody solves PETITE, so again we won’t play the Extra.
7. (Six-letter word)- What de class hates? Another stumper- it was DETEST.
8. (Five-letter word)- What four farthings amount to. Erik has a free shot at spoiling, but he blanks out. Answer: PENNY.
9. (Three letters)($100)- Word in the title of a charitable concert. Sharon tries FOR…incorrect, so she’s locked out for the second time today. It was AID.
10. (Another three-letter word)($100)- Pops on the farm? Gwen is wrong again with RAM, so she gets the same fate as Sharon did on the previous clue. Answer: PAS.
11. (Four-letter word)- Film in which Dustin Hoffman rescues people from a plane crash. Linda guesses HERO…got it for $1,150!
12. (_ _ _ _ _ R)- Dasher’s yokemate. Alex fits DANCER in there to go to $550.
13. (Five-letter word)- Medicine for what ails you. Alex says APPLE…I don’t think so, so he loses the $200 back. It was TONIC.
14. (Another five-letter word)- It can be icy or blank. Alex goes with STARE…he’s back at $550.
15. (A _ _ _ _)- How great minds think. Linda nails ALIKE to go to $1,350! That ends the round.

ROUND 3:
1. (Three letters)($100)- Giant’s first word? Alex misspells the right answer with FIE; Erik spoils with FEE to steal his $550.
2. (Three-letter word)($100)- Film featuring the character Chili Palmer, “___ Shorty”. Erik gets GET to go to $650.
3. (Four-letter word)- Triathlon vehicle. Gwen goes with BIKE for her first spoil…yes for $1,550!

6. (Five-letter word)- Military academy newbie. Erik goes with a PLEBE…right to take him to $1,050!
7. (Three letters)($100)- Wet stuff found in a trunk. Total Stumper- SAP.
8. (Another three-letter word)($100)- Burt Reynolds film, “Stroker ___”. Erik answers ACE as the second word…he now has $1,150!
9. (Another three-letter word)($100)- Last part of B.C.E. Linda tries to get her podium and lead back with a guess of ERA…correct for $1,550!
10. (Four-letter word)- With “The”, series starring Dennis Haysbert. Erik says the CBS show UNIT…right for $1,350; he’s now just $200 off the lead!

HOME STRETCH

11. (Three-letter word)($100)- One who “Works Hard for the Money”. Linda gets the first word of SHE in that song title for $1,650!
12. (Yet another three-letter word)($100)- Render imperfect. Erik responds with MAR…he’s again behind by just $200!
13. (Five-letter word)- Tricks or stratagems. To tie the game, Erik answers PLOYS…NO. Linda blanks, so Sharon can spoil. She goes with PLOTS…incorrect. It was RUSES…and the game is over, so Linda wins $1,450 and the Pismo Beach trip in an extremely tight game!

Crossfire: All Ms. Williamson has to do is fill in 16 blanks to win a nice trip to Jamaica…despite a great start, she falls one blank short and gives the last correct answer a second too late! Darn. But she did give eight correct answers, giving her a final cash total of $2,250. With the Pismo Beach trip, she goes home with about $3,000 in cash and prizes.

BREAKING NEWS: Patrick Duffy out as "Bingo America" host; former "Feud" host replaces him

Buzzerblog has just reported that Patrick Duffy will not return to host the second season of GSN's "Bingo America". Instead, Richard Karn, who hosted the current version of "Family Feud" for four seasons before being replaced by John O' Hurley, will take over. Personally, I don't like that call.

GSN schedule notes

Thom McKee's first appearance on "Tic Tac Dough" aired this morning.

Also, Ken Jennings' first appearance on "Jeopardy!" will air this Monday.

"Reality Bites Back" 8/21

This week, it's "Hunting with the Stars"! Here are everybody's partners:

Theo: Kato Kaelin
Chris: Chyna (!!!)
Amy: Leif Garrett
Mo: Susan Olsen

Little did all four teams know that what they did during their practice videos would count as their first challenge. After having all of those videos stuffed into their minds, the judges decided that the first comedian to advance to next week is...

...Mo Mandel!

Challenge #2: The other three teams tried to get swag bags and place them in their trunks located on some steps. However, each team also had to avoid the ball shots that were fired by the opposing teams; once both members of a team were hit, their turn was over. The team who collected and stored the most swag bags won.

Chyna didn't get s$&% before she got hit! She and Chris only managed five bags. The other two got 14; the team that did it faster consists of...

...Amy Schumer & Leif Garrett, so Amy advances!

Elimination Round: The two remaining comedians now have to shoot down all four of the night's celebrity partners. The one who does it faster eliminates their opponent.

The one who does NOT make it to "The Amazing Disgrace" next week is...

Chris
Theo

...Chris Fairbanks. Well, I guess if Chyna wanted to go down in flames so badly, Chris apparently decided to join her out of the spotlight. Chris lost by a whopping 3:01, :33 to 3:34.

(Upon further review, all of the celebrity guests tonight were NOT the real ones; other people potrayed the stars.)

"Big Brother X" 8/21

Shortly after the PoV Ceremony was held, April allegedly offered Dan some of her $10K so that he could sway his vote towards Jerry, but Dan apparently declined.

THE EVICTION:

Keesha: APRIL
Memphis: APRIL

If April gets one more vote, she's demoted to the jury.

Bryan: JERRY
Dan: APRIL- EVICTED

April Dowling is evicted by a final tally of 4-1 and becomes the second member of the jury. But she does leave with $10,000. And Bryan Ollie's lovely relationship with her is over, at least for now.

HoH Competition: Everyone tried to hang on to a jungle vine for as long as they could; the last one standing won the HoH honors. To find out who won, subscribe to the live, online 24/7 feed, read the spoilers or hold out and watch Sunday's episode.
