"American Idol" 1/29- PRELIMINARY AUDITIONS CONCLUDE

Tonight, we wrap up the audition tour with some auditions from NYC and San Juan, Puerto Rico. For one of these locales, the action won't be so pretty.

NYC:

GOOD:
Melinda Camille (Stratford, CT)
Jackie Tohn (Silver Lake, CA)
Ashley Hollister (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ)
Kenny Hoffpauer (Havertown, PA)
Kendall Beard (Austin, TX)

JUST BARELY MADE IT:
Nick Mitchell (Brookfield, CT; butchered "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" but changed to a different song; dressed as an iPod at the start)

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR:
Alexis Cohen (Philadelphia; previously auditioned in Season 7 but voice still isn't there)

FAILED MISERABLY:
Adeola Adegoke (Bronx, NY; completely sung "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" out of tune)

26 made it through from the Big Apple.

San Juan:

GOOD:
Jorge Nunez (Carolina, PR)

JUST BARELY MADE IT:
Monique Garcia Torres (San Juan, PR)
Patricia Lewis Roman (Caguas, PR)

CLOSE BUT NO CIGAR:
Jessika Baier (Jackson, MI; screamed too much)

Only nine made it through from here out of a miniscule group of about 300. The first week of the Hollywood Round begins the next time.
