During the first two weeks of the season, Tom Dwan was the big money winner. In the past two weeks, however, that title belonged to Barry Greenstein. Can Greenstein become the first player this season to threepeat? Let's find out. We start with three-way action:
Sahamies: DOUBLE 7s (Diamonds & Hearts)
THE FLOP: (AC)(5S)(10C)
Elezra leads with middle pair; everyone checks.
TURN: JACK OF HEARTS
Elezra now has a top straight draw; another triple check.
RIVER: ACE OF DIAMONDS
Dwan then makes a sizeable $52,200 bet...which makes Elezra fold, meaning he just got bluffed out! It also makes Sahamies fold, giving the $72,800 pot to Dwan.
The beginning of the second hand sees what I believe is a first on the show- more than one player on a hand does a straddle. After Peter Eastgate does so for $2,000, Doyle Brunson follows for double the amount. Here's what we have just before the flop:
THE FLOP: (JC)(3S)(7D)
Brunson and Greenstein both make top pair, while Eastgate has middle pair and is 3/5ths the way towards a spade flush (as is Greenstein). Brunson & Greenstein each bet $35,000, but Eastgate raises to $104,000. Brunson then folds...while Greenstein will play on.
TURN: 10 OF SPADES
Greenstein has the spade flush advantage since he already has the Ace of Spades. He then bets another 175 grand...and after a lot of thought, Eastgate folds, meaning Greenstein just won a $466,100 pot!
We then have another double straddle situation on the third hand; this time, the straddles are enforced by Greenstein ($2K) and Dwan ($4K)...this hand doesn't even get to the flop, as Greenstein gets everyone else to fold thanks to a $175K raise! With that $241,400 pot, he already has earned a little over $700K tonight!!
There's only one straddle done on the fourth hand, with this one from Dwan. At the flop:
Benyamine: DOUBLE 7s (Diamonds & Spades)
THE FLOP: (5S)(4S)(AD)
Elezra has two pair, while Negreanu & Dwan are two big cards away from an ace-high straight. After David Benyamine's $17K bet, Elezra raises to $52,500...which results in the other three bowing out, giving Elezra his first pot of the night at $100,400. Now, for hand #5:
THE FLOP: (3H)(JD)(AS)
Big two pair for Dwan; Eastgate's two face cards away from the best possible straight. Eastgate then makes a puny four grand bet; Dwan then raises to $14,300. Eastgate then folds here, so Dwan gets the $26,200 pot. This next hand could be very entertaining, because look what these three are starting out with:
Greenstein: DOUBLE ACES (Clubs & Diamonds)
THE FLOP: (4S)(2S)(QH)
Dwan has both top pair and a flush draw, but Greenstein still leads. After a $28,700 call by Dwan, Eastgate folds, while Greenstein raises to 100 grand. Dwan then replies with a raise to $244,600...BUT GREENSTEIN RAISES TO $436,100, PUTTING THIS POT SO FAR AT $728,100!!! This would put Dwan ALL IN...
...HERE WE GO- THIS POT IS WORTH $919,600, AND THIS HAND IS BEING RUN ONLY ONCE, SO WE ARE ABOUT TO SEE THE BIGGEST SINGLE POT WIN IN THIS SHOW'S HISTORY!!!! Let's see who wins it.
TURN: QUEEN OF CLUBS
Dwan now has the lead!! Greenstein is going to need a miracle, as there's only one Ace left in that deck...
RIVER: 7 OF DIAMONDS
...DWAN NOW HAS THE ONE-RUN HAND RECORD ON THIS SHOW WITH $919,600!!!!! HE'S NOW BROKEN THE ONE MILLION DOLLAR MARK FOR THIS EPISODE!!!
That was one hell of a first half; let's see what happens in the second half, beginning with this:
THE FLOP: (4S)(3D)(AC)
Sahamies & Negreanu both immediately have an inside straight draw. Dwan & Sahamies bet $9,700 apiece, but Negreanu raises to $32K. Dwan then folds, meaning we have a split pot situation between Sahamies & Negreanu. Negreanu then goes ALL IN and wants the hand to be run twice, but in a split pot situation like this, this hand gets terminated by the dealer and Sahamies & Negreanu split the $229,900 pot. Next:
THE FLOP: (QD)(6S)(3H)
Negreanu makes double queens, while Sahamies has a pair of 6s. Both bet just eight grand apiece.
TURN: 6 OF HEARTS
Sahamies now has trips, and then bets $27K...Negreanu then once again goes ALL IN!
RIVER: 3 OF CLUBS
Sahamies takes down the $232,500 pot, and Negreanu has just about had enough with his bad luck for a majority of this season, so he quits (cue the "Na Na Na...Hey Hey (Goodbye)" music)! Brunson's gone, but just temporarily.
The show must go on, however, with this next hand:
Benyamine: DOUBLE 9s (Clubs & Diamonds)
THE FLOP: (9H)(QS)(QD)
INSTANT FULL HOUSE for Benyamine! Eastgate has two pair. Dwan, the odd one out, folds while the other two bet $28K apiece.
TURN: 6 OF HEARTS
In the event a queen comes up on the river, this will be a split pot. Both then wager $38K a pop.
RIVER: 8 OF CLUBS- DUD
After both call another $75K apiece, Benyamine scores a huge $331,200 pot! Brunson then comes back to play in the next hand, which begins with a two grand straddle bet by Eastgate:
THE FLOP: (QC)(6S)(4D)
Eastgate makes two pair, while Elezra has an open-ended straight draw. Checks across the board.
TURN: 6 OF HEARTS- EASTGATE FULL HOUSE!
After Eastgate bets five grand, Sahamies throws in the towel while Elezra raises to triple that amount. Eastgate then calls the remaining ten grand to move on.
RIVER: 2 OF SPADES
Elezra then tries to score a big bluff win by betting 55 large...but Eastgate replies with an ALL IN response! Elezra then makes a mistake by calling the rest of that, so Eastgate just won big time, to the tune of $416,600! Here comes the next hand:
THE FLOP: (QH)(10S)(QD)
Dwan will love that flop! Elezra still has some hope, though, as he's only a jack away from a straight. Both check.
TURN: 10 OF CLUBS- DWAN FULL HOUSE!
That's the third full house made tonight! Both throw in another $8,300 apiece.
RIVER: 9 OF SPADES
After another $15K goes in, Dwan takes down the $41,900 pot. Now, for the last hand of the night:
Greenstein: DOUBLE 4s (Clubs & Hearts)
THE FLOP: (10H)(QS)(8H)
Brunson scores top pair; all three check.
TURN: 5 OF HEARTS
Brunson's now on the doorstep of a flush...turns out, he doesn't need the flush, as the other two fold to give him an $18,400 pot and save him from being skunked for the second straight week.
Obviously, the record-setting pot ($919,600) that was won by Tom Dwan tonight is this week's Spade Club.com High Pressure Moment.
