Here are this season's contestants:
They start out in Queenstown, New Zealand. Only three men and three women will make it to the final challenge, where the big male & female winner will split 200 grand. The two runners-up split $70K and the third place pair will split $30K.
But this show doesn't get off to a rosy start, because FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THREE YEARS, CT HAS GOTTEN DISQUALIFIED FROM "REAL WORLD/ROAD RULES CHALLENGE" RIGHT OFF THE BAT BECAUSE OF GETTING INTO A FIGHT, THIS TIME WITH ADAM!!! This fight took a LONG time to get broken up. Adam was also evicted. They are replaced by MJ and Nehemiah.
(It has become clearly obvious to me that CT's trying so hard to be like my brother Andrew. Whether it's because he's been drinking, smoking or having something wrong inside his noggin is anybody's guess.)
CHALLENGE #1 ("Last Man Standing"): They were standing on a 60-yard rugby field; this challenge was divided into two parts. In the first part, two six-member teams of the same sex competed. The first team that scored advanced to the second part. The one member from each team that was chosen to sit out the first part got immunity and got a first-round bye. The winning male & female teams then face each other in the second phase. The last male & female remaining each won an XBOX 360 as well as immunity from The Duel.
Brad & Paula were chosen to sit the first part of the challenge out.
All Colors: Mark, Evan, Ryan, Eric, MJ & Nick

PHASE 1 WINNERS: All Colors
All Colors: Rachel, Brittini, Robin, Ruthie, Katie & Aneesa

PHASE 1 WINNERS: All Colors
The winners of the season's first challenge turn out to be...
...Evan & Robin!
Now, I didn't cover all of the first season of "The Duel" back in late 2006-January 2007, so let me tell you what happens after each challenge. The two winners of each challenge get to select people of the opposite sex, one a time. Once somebody is selected, that chosen person must choose somebody of the opposite sex, and so on down the line until only one man and one woman are left. Those two are put into The Duel to face possible elimination from the game; each one must then choose another non-immune contestant of their respective sex to join them there.
1. MJ (Robin started the picking)
FINAL PICK: Jenn
Ryan & Shauvon were placed in the season's first Duels. Ryan then picked Nick while Shauvon decided to put Aneesa on the spot.
DUEL GAME CHOICES (five game cards are made available each time):
Men: The Elevator
Women: Back Off
MALE DUEL #1: In "The Elevator", both players are given a platform that is attached to a long chain and some pulleys from the opposing platform. The objective is for one to pull down their chain hard enough so that their opponent will rise all the way up to the top. The first one to completely put their opponent at the top stays in the game and wins a personal radio player.
The outcome of the season's first Duel...
...it came down to the wire- Ryan won it!
FEMALE DUEL #1: In "Back Off", each player is placed in a harness with a hook on their back. Suspended above both of their heads is a ring. The objective is to grab their opponent's hook and put it on their ring; doing so earns a point. Best 2 out of 3 wins the radio player and stays in the game.
(WOF Time's Up Signal)
But we don't have enough time to do this particular Duel, so we'll do so at the top of next week's episode.
