Last week saw the return of Tom Dwan, who we all know for breaking the bank with that record $919,600 pot about a month ago. Let's see how much magic he can cook up tonight. The opening hand:
THE FLOP: (10D)(8H)(4S)
Hachem has middle pair while Antonius has the low one. Both add five grand apiece to the pot.
TURN: QUEEN OF DIAMONDS- DUD
Hachem's $12,000 bet...is enough for Antonius to fold, so Hachem wins the night's first pot at $29,000. Same two play the second hand:
THE FLOP: (8H)(4C)(8S)
Antonius has an inside straight draw; both check.
TURN: 10 OF SPADES
Antonius can now make a straight by either getting a 5 or a 9; this is a Double Belly Buster situation. After Hachem bets $2,500...Antonius raises to $13,000....and Hachem folds to win Antonius a $22,900 pot. Antonius then plays in this third hand after taking a bathroom break for an $800 bet:
Esfandiari: DOUBLE NINES (Diamonds & Spades)
THE FLOP: (AD)(6C)(10C)
Double Aces and a club flush draw for Antonius. Both bet seven grand this turn.
TURN: 5 OF HEARTS- DUD
Antonius tries to close this hand out with a $19,000 wager...but Esfandiari goes on by calling.
RIVER: ACE OF SPADES
No flush, but Antonius does win a $105,800 pot here! Dwan then plays his first hand of the night:
THE FLOP: (AC)(3D)(QC)
Dwan has the best possible pair. Double check.
TURN: QUEEN OF SPADES
Dwan now has two pair, meaning Cassavetes is drawing dead. Both bet five grand this round.
RIVER: ACE OF DIAMONDS- DWAN FULL HOUSE!
Dwan wins his first pot this evening at $53,300! He'll try to make it two in a row against Daniel Negreanu on this next hand:
THE FLOP: (AC)(9C)(JS)
Dwan has an ace high straight draw, while Negreanu has Double Aces. Both throw in $5,700 apiece to the pot.
TURN: QUEEN OF SPADES
Dwan now has double queens; both now bet 11 grand apiece.
RIVER: 10 OF CLUBS- DWAN STRAIGHT!
That straight is worth another $70,200 to Dwan's bank account! Next hand:
Laak: DOUBLE ACES (Clubs & Hearts)
THE FLOP: (7C)(5C)(KH)
TURN: 3 OF SPADES- DUD
After Laak's $5,200 bet, Esfandiari folds, winning Laak a $13,600 pot. The second half of tonight's episode begins with the following:
Dwan: DOUBLE 8s (Diamonds & Spades)
THE FLOP: (6C)(9H)(6H)
Instant heart flush draw for Laak; a 7 on the turn will give Dwan an open-ended straight draw. After Dwan's $6,300 bet, Laak raises an additional 15 grand and Dwan calls.
TURN: 6 OF SPADES- DWAN FULL HOUSE!
That's Dwan's second Full House of the evening! But both check here.
TURN: 8 OF HEARTS- LAAK FLUSH!
Laak has his flush, but Dwan still has the best hand. This could possibly lead to some late hand fireworks. Dwan bets $9,400...and after Laak talks it out a LONG time, he calls and Dwan wins the $72,200 pot. Too bad it wasn't much bigger. On the next hand, we have three-way action for the first time tonight:
Hachem: DOUBLE 4s (Clubs & Spades)
THE FLOP: (KC)(5D)(8C)
Laak leads early on with two pair, while Negreanu has top pair. Hachem folds while the other two bet $6,500 apiece.
TURN: 9 OF HEARTS- DUD
Laak then makes a fairly big $18,500 bet...but Negreanu replies with a raise to $43,500. Laak then calls the other $25K.
RIVER: 2 OF HEARTS- ANOTHER DUD
Laak takes down the night's highest pot so far, $163,700! Next stop is four-way action:
Lederer: DOUBLE 6s (Clubs & Spades)
THE FLOP: (QD)(AD)(2C)
Dwan has two pair, Negreanu has top pair and Laak has just middle pair. Dwan's $14,300 then causes Laak & Lederer to fold out.
TURN: 2 OF HEARTS
We now have a split pot possibility. Dwan tries to sabotage all that by next betting $34,600...but Negreanu responds big time by raising to $84,600! Dwan then calls the remaining $50K.
RIVER: 4 OF HEARTS- NO GOOD
No more action here, so Dwan picks up the night's highest pot at $221,400! Now, for the final hand of the evening:
Dwan: DOUBLE JACKS (Clubs & Spades)
THE FLOP: (AH)(8C)(2D)- WORTHLESS FLOP
Both bet $21K a pop.
TURN: KING OF SPADES- ANOTHER DUD
Antonius is drawing dead right now, and he's getting desperate, as he now bets $52K...and would you believe it, Dwan folds! That'll offset Dwan's $221K pot win just moments ago a bit; Antonius wins a $128,200 pot as a result. This hand is also this week's World Series of Poker Academy High Pressure Moment of the Week.
