The record wasn't meant to happen for these ladies, but they still share in $3,000.

Jeopardy!: Joe Webb will try to keep that momentum going since last night's DJ! tonight against:

John Hashop (Astoria, NY)- Actor
Alyssa McRae (Philadelphia)- Gift card production designer

Tuesday's opening subjects:

WORLD WIDE WEBS
CELEBRITY LIPSTICKS
S.O.S.
NELSON MANDELA
BACK TO BUSINESS

CROSSWORD CLUES "T"

After the second half of the categories get cleaned out to take us to the first break, Hashop leads the champ $3,000 to $2,600, while McRae has $800. We end the round with the Daily Double under the $1,000 S.O.S. clue, and it's found by McRae with $4,200. She's in the midst of a tight game, as Hashop's at $5,000 and the champ barely leads with $5,200. Her wager is $1,100. For a $100 lead heading into DJ!, here's the clue:

If you fall into deep water without a life jacket, there's no time to send an S.O.S.- it's time to do this "S.O.S.".

"What is sink or swim?"...she's the new leader for now with $5,300!

ATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $1,000
UNATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $600
TOTAL LACH TRASH: $1,600

DJ! Categories:

PLAYWRIGHTS
HBO
FILL IN THE BLANK CANVAS
CHICKEN SOUP

FOR THE SOLE
USE A GOOD "STOCK"

Hashop starts off by saying he might regret starting this round with Playwrights...what's the problem- he gets all but the $800 clue there to take the lead back with $10,200 (the champ got the other clue)! He ends up finding DD #1 under the $1,200 Fill in the Blank Canvas clue, but only leads McRae by $100, $11,400-$11,300; Webb now has $7,600. His wager this time is six grand. Important clue on the way:

Henri Rousseau: "The ______ Gypsy"

"What is purple?"...NO. The right word there was sleeping, plunging him to last for the moment with $5,400. But he then gets the last two clues of that category to go back into second with $9,000. Later in the round, only For the Sole is left, and the champ goes Daily Double Hunting...and he instantly finds the other DD under the $1,600 clue with $9,200! Hashop's total is now $10,200 and McRae's ahead with $12,500. He wagers four grand. To take the lead:

On Oct. 12, 1960 he used a shoe to great effect while giving a speech to the U.N. General Assembly.

"Who is Fidel Castro?"...WRONG. Nikita Khrushchev was the man, so he's deeper in last place territory with $5,200.

ATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $3,200
UNATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $2,800
TOTAL DJ! LACH TRASH: $6,000

SCORES AFTER DOUBLE JEOPARDY!:

Joe: $7,200
Alyssa: $11,700
John: $10,200

CORYAT SCORES:

Joe: $11,200
Alyssa: $11,600
John: $16,200

ASK ALEX: What kind of name is Trebek? It's Ukranian.

FJ! CATEGORY: European Regions.

This arboreally named area was made famous by a prince in the region noted for impaling enemies on stakes.

Our current champion's FJ! response was "What is the Dracula Tree-Forest?"...ZONK ANSWER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE. But it doesn't cost him anything. John Hashop wrote down "What is the Bloody Forest?"...not much better of a response. That costs him $3,001, so he finishes a buck behind the defending champ. Alyssa McRae's response was "What is Transylvania?"...the best response of the round...happens to be right for the championship and $20,401! Joe Webb leaves with $30,801.
