"There Goes the Neighborhood" 8/30

Early on, ice cream treats get thrown over the giant wall for everybody.

Home Challenge #3: Each family is given a giant bag of mail with 500 pieces in it, but only 10 pieces of mail belong to that family. Their own mail must go inside their inbox.

The family that gets all 10 pieces of mail in their inbox are...

...the Johnstons!

NEIGHBORHOOD CHALLENGE #4: Everybody's playing Scrabble, with each family starting out with 10 tiles on each turn. Also on the big gameboard are special squares like Choose Who Loses a Turn. The word NEIGHBORHOOD is put on the board to start.

The Johnstons will go first in each round since they won the Home Challenge.

ROUND 1:
Johnstons: HEELING (4 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2) = 11
Nelsons: CLOUDS (3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1) = 9

The Nelsons hit a Lose a Turn square, so they choose...to have a turn taken away from the Mullennixes.

Schindlers: BEARDS = 9
Upshaws: JARS = 11

The Upshaws also hit an LAT square, and decide to cost the Johnstons their second turn.

ROUND 2:
Nelsons: JAW = 13 (22)
Schindlers: ZOOM = 15 (24)
Upshaws: VIEW = 10 (21)
Mullennixes: LEAGUE = 7

The Mullennixes run into an LAT square as well, and decide to lock the Nelsons out for Round 3.

ROUND 3:
Johnstons: GOVERN = 11 (21)

The Johnstons hit an LAT spot as well and I believe black out the Schindlers for this round. The other words given in this round are PRIDE, MAFIA, HEALER and KNOB (the last of which was given by the Mullennixes for 10 points, giving them 17; they also hit an LAT square and decide to sit the Nelsons out again). The Upshaws now lead with 29 points, while the scores for the Schindlers and the Nelsons remain as they are.

SCORES AFTER ROUND 4:

Upshaws: 42
Schindlers: 33
Johnstons: 31
Nelsons & Mullennixes: 22 each

FINAL ROUND:

Johnstons: QUEER (10 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) = 14 (45)
Nelsons: QUEERS (10 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) = 15 (37)
Schindlers: SOY (1 + 1 + 4) = 6 (39)
Upshaws: PAINT (3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1) = 7 (49)

The Mullennixes are mathematically eliminated before their final turn, so the Upshaws are Kings of the Neighborhood once again! This time, they earn a backyard set.

ELIMINATION #4: The Upshaws surprisingly don't put up the Schindlers up for eviction again this week; instead, they nominate the Johnstons and the Nelsons. By a vote of 2-1...

Johnstons
Nelsons

...the Nelsons have become the victims of a backdoor strategy and have been eliminated. They leave with the refrigerator.
