WoF: The first Toss-Up category on the second show of Season 28 from The Venetian is Place:

_ I _ E / A R T

_ A L _ E R Y

Todd solves FINE ART GALLERY for $1,000, and let's meet him and his female competition right now:

Todd Nixon (Charleston, SC)- A respitory therapist who's hoping to go on a medical mission trip to Uganda this December
Leslie Strange (Independence, MO)- Army wife/sales & licensing coordinator for a large communications company
Ashlyn Burnett (Henderson, NV)- Internet merchandise buyer

$2,000 Toss-Up category is In the Kitchen:

P O P _ _ R N

P _ _ _ _ _

Leslie only gets POPCORN ______.

P O P _ _ R N

P _ P _ _ _

Todd triples his dough with POPCORN POPPER.

Eggland's Best Jackpot Round category is Movie Title and out on the wheel now is a $5.5K NCL Alaskan Cruise from Leisure Larry.com. He gets us going with three T's for $900 and buys three E's and I's before calling two H's for the cruise and buying the last remaining vowels of two A's. After he calls a $300 W, we have...

T H E / T W I _ I _ H T

_ A _ A : / E _ _ I _ _ E

...he nails "THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE" for the first PERFECT ROUND of the season and another $5,950 in cash and cruise, for a new total of $8,950.

LEFT BEHIND IN JACKPOT: $5,600

For the second night in a row, the Prize Puzzle Round category is What Are You Doing? First up this time is Leslie, who calls an immediate dud of T (just the second this season). Secondly, Ashlyn calls two N's for $800, buys four E's, calls a $300 G and buys an obvious I before Bankrupting next to the $3,500 wedge to lose the remaining $600. Third, Todd calls three R's for $900 and purchases four A's, followed by a $450 D, but he then buys the only dud vowel on this board (O). After Leslie quickly duds out again with the S this time, Ashlyn jumps in...

R E _ A _ I N G

_ N D E R / A / _ E A _ _

_ _ _ R E _ _ A

...and responds incorrectly with READING UNDER A BEACH UMBRELLA, because that's a letter short. Todd then Bankrupts the same way Ashlyn did earlier to lose the $850 that's in his pot. Leslie then steals RELAXING UNDER A BEACH UMBRELLA for a chance to do so at the Almond Smugglers' Cove in St. Lucia worth $6,800.

DUDS: O (Todd), $350 S (Leslie), $300 T (Leslie)
BANKRUPTS: 2 (Ashlyn, Todd)
SOLE DQ: Ashlyn (blown solve)

TONIGHT'S SPIN ID: MB0203841 (Mark B. from Minnesota)

IHOP Mystery Round subject is Before & After. Hoping to redeem herself in this round of play, Ashlyn begins by calling a $400 T and buying two E's prior to purchasing a free A while on Free Play. She next calls a $300 H, buys three O's, lights up three N's for another $1,200 and then calls a $600 M and twin C's for another $600. Afterwards, she lights up double I's to clean out the vowels before she puts up two L's for another $800 and we have...

C I N N A M O N

R O L L

O _ / T H E / _ I C E

...she's correct this time with CINNAMON ROLL OF THE DICE for $3,150.

PERFECT ROUND #2

The final Toss-Up is about some Living Things:

_ I _ _

S T A _ L _ _ _ S

For the lead with $9,800, Leslie rings in with WILD STALLIONS...yes.

Next topic is Phrase. She immediately hits the $5,000 spot but she calls an inopportune dud of S. Over to Ashlyn, who proceeds to call a $900 N before we go to Last Chance Mode with the following...

_ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _

_ _ _ _ N _ _ _

...and the remaining consonants are worth $1,900 apiece; anybody can win. A little later, Leslie makes an L appear...

_ _ R _ / _ _ _ R

_ _ L _ N _ _ R

...and she gets MARK YOUR CALENDAR for the championship with $11,700 in cash and trip! Todd leaves with $8,950 in cash & cruise and Ashlyn takes home $3,150.

So far, $23,800 in cash and vacations has been awarded this evening.

DUDS:
Prior to speed-up bell: $5K S (Leslie)
After the bell: T (Ashlyn)

TONIGHT'S BANKRUPT TRASH: $1,450

Big Money Round: Leslie's survived another pretty "Strange" game on the "Wheel" to make it here; let's see how she fares with the high stakes on the line. She spins the R and the category is Place. Starting with:

_ R _ N T

_ _ R _

She calls H, P, D and I and gets...

_ R _ N T

_ _ R D

...without the A, the $30,000 at stake again tonight now blows all over a FRONT YARD somewhere else in Vegas. That sends her home with $11,700 in cash and trip.

Jeopardy!: Last night, Roger Craig (who some of you might consider a combination of the James Bond actors Roger Moore & Daniel Craig) kicked some booty thanks to his luck, strategy & smarts, winning 37 grand! Incidentally, he played a mad scientist in a low-budget zombie film. Let's see if he can continue his roll tonight against:

Mandy Strine (Hendersonville, TN)- DMV administrator for a used car retailer
Tony Fan (Marietta, GA)- Law student

Light up the first category board, Kevin McCarthy:

CALDECOTT MEDAL & HONOR BOOKS
ROCK 'N OLD
EQUALS ONE
SORT THROUGH THE WORLD PROBLEM
THE "A" LIST
KATIE COURIC, WITNESS TO HISTORY (all clues will be presented by said anchor of the "CBS Evening News")

Craig first goes Daily Double Hunting with the $400 Katie Couric clue. He doesn't find the first DD of the night, but he is in Lock Game Territory with $4,800 and leads Fan by $3,000; Strine's $600 in the hole, though. And Craig finds the DD under the middle clue on Caldecott Medal & Honor Books with $5,400, which is triple Fan's current score. He wagers four grand. To keep the lead, here's the clue:

A 2007 Caldecott Honor book was called "Moses: When" she "...Led Her People To Freedom".

"Who is Harriet Tubman?"...right for a bigger lead at $9,400! After this round, he's pretty deep in LGT with 13 large; Fan's at $4,200 and Strine's $800 on the good side.

SOLE TRIPLE STUMPER OF THE ROUND: $800 (Equals One; it was attempted)

DJ! Categories:

THEY'RE IN HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
LIVING IN NYC
SUIT UP!
IT'S GONNA "BE"...
WAIT FOR IT...
LEGENDARY!

Early on, Craig SWEEPS the topic about NYC to jump to $19,400! Two clues later, he starts his latest DDH spree at the middle "Be" spot...and he finds one of them with the middle clue in Wait For It, and he's responded correctly on the past 10 clues in this round! Currently, he's sitting extremely pretty with $25,800, but Fan's back in the red to the tune of $400. His wager this time is...$7K on this clue:

In this play, a boy says that the title character "...won't come this evening, but surely tomorrow".

"What is Waiting for Godot?"...THAT'S IT for $32,800! His streak ends at 12, though, after he's incorrect on the $2K clue in the same category. Not too long after that, he completes the DD SWEEP after picking the $1,600 Legendary clue! With Fan up slightly to $6,200, of his $33,600, he bets...five C-notes. The answer this time is:

He invented the Lyre & gave it to Apollo; Apollo gave him the Caduceus in return.

"Who is Hermies?"...THAT'S GOT IT for a new score of $38,600! Time runs out before we can find out about the $400 "Be" clue or the last four Suit Up! answers, and Strine becomes the first contestant this season to WIPE OUT for a grand.

SOLE TS OF THE ROUND: $400 (Suit Up!)

HEADS' UP POST-DJ! CASH COUNT:

Roger: $47K (MAJOR LOCK GAME!!!!!)
Tony: $5,400

CORYAT SCORES:

Roger: $34,400
Tony: $5,400
Mandy: -$400

Roger Craig's got a chance to break Ken Jennings' one-day record of $75K if he's smart & lucky enough tonight on the final clue of the evening.

FJ! SUBJECT: Literary & Movie Title Objects.

The inspiration for this title object in a novel & a 1957 movie actually spanned the Mae Khlung River.

Tony Fan's response was "What is the Bridge over the River Kwai?"...good enough! He finishes at $10K and will leave with 1/5 that amount. And now, let's see if Craig's right also...

...YES!!! But did he risk at least $28,001???...

...HE DID WITH 30 G'S- HE SETS THE NEW ALL-TIME SINGLE REGULATION GAME RECORD WITH $77,000!!!!!!!!!!!

AND HE SETS A NEW RECORD FOR ANY CHAMPION'S FIRST TWO DAYS WITH A TOTAL OF $114K- UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!! ROGER, YOU ROCK!!!!

Their game ENDS when Ed doesn't conquer the "Mouth to Mouth" challenge. In addition to the $50K that will be split between their two families, these two guys will also each receive a special coin from Dr. Jon Dubose.

Well, that ends the first season of NBC's answer to "Beat the Clock". It didn't start out that well in the ratings on Sunday nights, but it did slightly better when it was first moved to Wednesday nights. Originally, $50K was the only safe haven available, but as of last Summer, there are three- $1K, $50K & $250K. This played a part in giving away a lot more money, and two couples took advantage of that- Chelsie Chinery & Nathan Moon ($250K on July 28th & August 4th) and especially Aaron Hendrick & Kimberly Fox (who are currently the biggest winners to date with $500K when they were on the show July 14th & July 21st).

Starting with the first "Last Man Standing" episode, some lucky contestants tried to win $1,000,000 with the very difficult game "Supercoin". Despite the show doing a Million Dollar Mission with audience members beginning July 7th, NO ONE has yet to complete it. Maybe somebody will eventually do so in the future (or at least wins the million with a different stunt).

We'll see you again sometime in mid-season. In the meantime, you can see one more never-before seen NFL episode on NBC.com.

Wipeout: "Ahoy, Ye Land Lubbers"- welcome to the two-part season finale! The first game will be of the regular variety.
