Jeopardy!: Steven Milton's first challengers as the new champion are:

Cara Colville (Houston, TX)- Behavior interventionist
Jeff Gordon (originally from Fayetteville, AR)- A bio-tech consultant who's obviously not the NASCAR race car driver

Opening categories:

REPTILES
ALSO A GIRL'S NAME
THE FASTING & THE FURIOUS
I'M SEEING COLORS (two different varieties of a color are listed on each clue)
FAUX PAS
REAL "PA"S

Milton gets the Daily Double under The Fasting & The Furious' $800 clue (and the ninth of this round) with $1,600; he leads Gordon by $600 and Colville by $1,400. He makes it a True DD, so for $3,200 or $0, here's the clue:

Lieutenant Colonel Thileepan of the Tamil Tigers starved himself to death in a 1987 hunger strike on this island.

"What is Sri Lanka?"...DOUBLE to $3,200! At halftime, he slightly increases that amount to $3,800; Gordon has $2,600 and Colville's doubled up to $400.

ATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $400
UNATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $2,400
TOTAL LACH TRASH: $2,800

POST-FIRST ROUND SCORES:

Steven: $7K
Jeff: $5K

Cara: $2,800

DJ! Subjects:

AIRCRAFT OF WORLD WAR I
THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP
EUROPEAN COUNTRY BY CITIES (every clue lists ta pair of cities)
PEOPLES' MAGAZINE
KITTY LIT
BACKWORDS (each correct response is a word spelled backwards within the clue)

Just two clues in, Milton locates his second DD of the night at the $800 WWI clue. Of his $7,400, he risks three grand of it, meaning his $2,400 lead's at stake with this clue:

The Schutte-Lanz Company also made dirigibles in Germany, but it was this company whose airships terrorized London.

"Who is Messerschmitt?"...NO. Correct: What is Zeppelin? That drops him to second place, at least temporarily, with $4,400. The last remaining category, Backwords, has the last of them...and the round ends with Colville getting control of it with 10 G's. She's just $200 behind Gordon for second place and $4,800 behind the champion for first. Her wager on the following is also three large:

The announcement rang out that the baby's mother would be repaid for this item.

"What is the diaper?"...she's right to conclude the round with 13 big ones!

ATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $1,200

CORYAT SCORES:

Steven: $17K
Jeff: $10,200
Cara: $12K

This evening's final will have the 4/5 betting situation.

FJ! SUBJECT: Russian Composers.

His first name means "moderate"; sadly, immoderate drinking helped kill kim in 1881 at age 42, but not on Bald Mountain.

Jeff Gordon's question was "Who is (Igor) Stravinsky?"...incorrect. He should've wagered anywhere from $2,801-$4,600...but he loses everything but a Benjamin. Cara Colville doesn't look totally sure about "Who was (Pyotr Ilyich) Tchaikovsky?"...because that's wrong, too. That costs her...everything but a C-note. Steven Milton tried "Who is Prokofiev?"...NOT RIGHT, EITHER. The composer was actually Modest Mussorgsky. He only wins $3,599 on this episode, but he's still the champ with a new total of $30,299.

"Hell's Kitchen" 6/29

Challenge #7: Update three of the dishes from a 15-year-old wedding menu that a couple's holding in 30 minutes- their 50th anniversary will be honored during the first Dinner Service of the night.

Ed Battaglia: Pan-seared filet w/ crab cake, lobster crab & mushrooms

Round 2 (Chicken Quito):
Autumn Lewis: Chicken meatballs over pasta
Holli Ugalde: Panco-crusted chicken w/ lemon, roasted garlic & parsley butter

FINAL ROUND (Trout Almondine):
Benjamin Knack: Puree of almonds, chanterelles & vanilla
Jay Santos: Pan-seared golden trout w/ fennel leaves, lemon & an almond strusel on top

The Blue Team wins the first round...

...BUT THAT'S IT- the Red Team WINS THEIR FIRST CHALLENGE OF THE SEASON with the other two rounds! They get a '50s retreat, but the BT has to setup the restaurant's interior for the special service coming up, as well as make a three-tier wedding cake.

DS #7: Just before this starts, Jay cuts one of his fingers badly with a small knife and has to get medical attention. The steaks will be served tableside by Ed & Nilka, and both teams have to serve the hosts first before they can start making appetizers. As people walk by towards the table with the wedding cake on top of it, it shakes, forcing Jay to adjust its stance. The first cooking problem of the service occurs with Ben, who undercooks some crab cakes and burns a few others. Meanwhile, Jason Ellis & Salvatore Coppola are moving too slow in the BT's kitchen when it comes to their garnishing; Fran Kiler soon has the same problem. Later, Holli overcooks a duck and undercooks a chicken.

The losers of this service are...

...the RT.

ELIMINATION #6: Holli relunctantly nominates Fran (this is her second trip in a row and fourth overall) & Siobhan Allgood (also her second consecutive time). Does Chef Ramsay make any significant adjustment(s) here?...

...YES- NOBODY from the RT will be eliminated in this round of competition. Instead, he decides to eliminate a member of the BT, who turns out to be...

...Salvatore.

Challenge #8: After visiting a sandwich shop called Philippe French-Dipped Sandwiches (which has existed for over a century; this was the birthplace of the French Dip), which is currently owned by Richard Binder, they have to go back to home base and make a gourmet sandwich within half an hour.

The RT sits Siobhan's sandwich out.

Round 1:
Ben: Pan-seared Ahi Tuna w/ a salad that includes spiced olives & watercress
Ed: Ahi Tuna open-fish sandwich on grilled Sesame bread w/ mayonnaise, chive & mint
WINNER: BOTH

Round 2:
Holli: Smoked duck breast on Pumpernickel bread w/ caramelized onions & Prosciutto
Jason: Lobster Cole Slaw Sloppy Joe Sandwich
WINNER: BOTH AGAIN

Round 3:
Fran: Balsalmic chicken w/ roasted peppers
Jay: Country Pork Batte w/ Foie Gras fat, Vietnamese slaw & Romaine hearts
WINNER: Jay (BT leads, 3-2)

FINAL ROUND:
Nilka: Roasted pork w/ Arugula, red onions & truffle mayo
Autumn: Roasted pork loin w/ sauteed vegetables that have a balsamic reduction
WINNER: Nilka- THIS CHALLENGE ENDS IN A 3-3 TIE

Siobhan's sandwich will break the tie- it's the last of the Ahi Tunas...

...but thanks to her team NOT replacing Fran with her in the third round when they should have, the BT wins a California Central Wine Country getaway! That leaves the RT with the chance to make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich.

DS #8: Jason gets off to a bad start by overcooking a series of scallops; Siobhan later has the same fate. Fran starts off the opposite way on her risottos, but a few of her later ones are duds. Autumn's NOT fast enough in making the potatoes. After Ramsay yanks Siobhan's fish station privleges away from and gives them to Ben, Siobhan has to settle for the dessert section. Ramsay later gets into a confrontation with a nasty customer over a medium-cooked steak. As this service goes on, Ed screws up a duck.

ELIMINATION #7: Both Fran & Siobhan are nominated for the third consecutive time; that's five nominations now for Fran. Also put on the hot spot are Autumn (for her third time) & Ed. The other chef dismissed this week is...

...Siobhan.

Elena- A girl who considers herself 90% crazy and 10% loud
Inga- A female cook who also re-makes some toes so that they look like bugs
Kevin- An aspiring pilot who wants to be the first person to walk on Mars

Level 1:

For 10: We see a hive of nine-numbered cells that looks like this:

Row 1: 837
Row 2: 5602

Put the five numbers a bee went through in order.

For 30: Which of the four quadruplets made a different face than the rest while they were in a van making fun of Jeff?
ANSWER: #4

The only one to miss this puzzle was Kevin, who locked in the other end of the spectrum, #1.

For 50: The Big Bad Wolf just escaped from Jeff's prison. On the tracking device Jeff was holding, which of the four shacks did he hide in?
ANSWER: #1

Ethan & Inga both goofed with #2, while Marley missed with #3. After the next-to-last puzzle, let's take a look at the scoreboard:

ANSWER: Red

EVERYBODY'S WRONG with the following...

Green- Kevin & Inga
Blue- Jakobe & Elena

...which means Inga is definitely GOING HOME. The fourth-place contestant who was slower was...Ethan, so he joins her down the Brain Drain with a Schafer & Sons three-piece drum set and the slime bucket.

Jeopardy!: Janet Bradlow tries to improve her Tournament of Champions standing in tonight's match against:

Steven Milton (San Diego)- Legal case assistant
Christopher Scheeren (Centerville, VA!)- Stage actor/product specialist

Tuesday's opening topics:

NOTRE DAME
GO IRISH!
OSCAR-NOMINATED SPORTS FLICKS
ALL ABOARD AMTRAK
SAME FIRST & LAST LETTER
BANANAS (all clues are read by Kelly Miyahara from such a plantation in Ecuador)

On just the third clue, Bradlow picks off the Daily Double under the middle Same First & Last Letter clue; Milton got the opening one. For $1,000, here is the clue:

An invisible emanation, or an intangible quality.

"What is an aurora?"...that response definitely qualifies, and it's correct for $1,400. At the first timeout, she has $4,000, which is double Milton's first-half score; Scheeren's at $1,200. Time expires before the last Notre Dame clue can be revealed.

ATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $800
UNATTEMPTED LACH TRASH: $1K
TOTAL LACH TRASH: $1,800

SCORES AFTER OPENING ROUND:

Janet: $5,800
Christopher: $1K
Steven: $5,600

DJ! Categories:

SHAKESPEAREAN OPERAS (the play based on each one has to be identified)
CLASSIC YUMMY ROCKERS
REBELS WITH A CAUSE
TRADITIONAL ANNIVERSARY GIFTS

ARCHITECTS
"Z" IS FOR...

Four clues into this round, Milton finds DD #1 attached to the $1,600 clue on Shakespearean Operas with $6,800 and a lead over the champion by a C-note; Scheeren's improved slightly to $2,200. His wager is two grand. That means he has to be right on this clue in order to keep the lead:

Love that sparring: "Beatrice et Benedict".

"What is 'Romeo & Juliet'?"...NO, so that $1K margin now stands for how much he's trailing the champ right now with $4,800. The correct play was "Much Ado About Nothing". By the time he finds the other one with the $1,600 Rebels with a Cause clue, he still has that exact same deficit with $7,600; Scheeren's up to $3,400 at this point. He again wagers $2K, this time on:

The 17th & 18th Century Jacobite rebellions attempted to return this royal house to the British throne.

"What is The House of Stewart?"...right to re-gain the lead with $9,600!

DJ! LACH TRASH (all unattempted): $4K

SCORES AFTER DOUBLE JEOPARDY!:

Janet: $16,600
Christopher: $4,600
Steven: $17,600

CORYAT SCORES:

Janet: $16,200
Christopher: $4,600
Steven: $19,200

The champ needs to win this game with at least $30,805 in order to take over second place on the Tournament of Champions Leaderboard.

FJ! TOPIC: Physics.

Discovered in the Early 20th Century, these two particles, one with a positive charge, the other a packet of energy, differ by a letter.

Christopher Scheeren from Virginia wrote down "What is a proton and a photon?"...those are both right! He wagered everything but a buck, so he'll finish with $9,199. Janet Bradlow...put down "positron" in place of "photon", costing her $1,001 and sending her slightly down to $15,599. But judging by Steven Milton's smile...he got it right to become the new champ with an additional $9,100 (though he should've wagered either $15,601 or $6,401 instead) and $26,700 total! Bradlow leaves with 60 large.

Wipeout: Tonight is the first-ever World Cup Special!

Qualifier: Instead of running to the second obstacle (which is the usual Sucker Punch), all of this week's contestants have to take a White-Water Rafting ride there to a bullseye. That's followed by the Big Soccer Balls with the new Motivator, Tramopline Sweeper and the Fling Set.

SL: Season 3 opens with four straight celebrity episodes, starting with some members of the New York Giants! Unlike all of the celebrity shows from last season (which had some bands compete), these players today will actually be competing for charity:

#60 Shaun O'Hara (center)
#66 David Diehl (offensive tackle)
#71 Dave Tollefson (defensive end)
#69 Rich Seubert (guard)
#76 Chris Snee (guard)

(Notes: At the end of the intro to episodes like this one starting this season, the type of episode being conducted will be displayed below the show's logo. Also, the logo with the episode descriptor appears on the bottom left corner of our screens during gameplay.)

$300 Round:

1. The first challenge of the season goes to Kevin, and it's called "Old Man Bites Tenderly".
RESULT: SACKED (they got too loud late)

2. David is dealt the "Suspender Strike".

$400 Round:

$800 Round:

1. Shaun's second task of the day is called "Balled Pedal".
RESULT: ANOTHER TACKLE

2. The second chance to triple their team's charity bank goes to Chris with "Destroy Foot".

First Five-Player Challenge of the Season: While Dave rests, everybody else gets to do a "Five Way Sap". To be exact, they have :30 to finish a gallon of maple syrup.
RESULT: PASS ($2K)

THE GRAND GAME: All six members of this NFL team will each receive $500 for charity if David can withstand a sweet challenge titled "Topped Cream". While he's holding a dish of Vanilla ice cream, he has to get hit by his teammates with guns containing banana slices, chocolate syrup, caramel, Marachino cherries & rainbow sprinkles.
RESULT: FAIL

But, we can then turn their frowns upside down when we tell them that...NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENED THIS AFTERNOON, AT THE END OF EVERY LEGIT CELEBRITY GAME LIKE THIS ONE, THEY WILL BE SHARING IN THE TOP PRIZE OF $5,500 ($917 each)!!!

The champion makes this clue worth two C-notes:
